Impressive, but I would not want to carry the ammo....

I'll take a half dozen of those and a thousand kilos of ammo please.

Kind of a different sort of 'water-cooled' barrel, huh. . . I wonder what the cyclic rate of that first one was...?

Thought it was going to be German disco for a minute there

Is it just me or does the recoil look pretty mild? Never had the pleasure of shooting anything like that, so I wouldn't know.

Sure looks like fun though

I'll put our latest 7.62 belt fed up against that kraut gun. Note, it's being shoulder fired, and no, it's not a SAW even though it looks like it. However, it is the same weight.

And for a truck mount, nothing touches this, not even close. Three thousand rounds per minute.

So yea, not even impressed with the kraut junk.

After watching the utube video, I think it there is something rotten in Smolinsk. That dude's accent seemed kind of cheezy and didn't seem quite right. Why would he make that just to junk it?

Who IS that guy, anyway...??? He surely isn't really a Russian and allowed to show real Russian technology. Is he just a U.S. dude with a cool hobby and foreign accent, or what...???

Umm yea. That guy is not Russian lol, those guys are like The Onion of shooting shows. On a side note, the producer of that show was recently whacked in his office with several firearms within hands reach, unsolved murder as far as I know, lot's of tinfoil surrounding it.

that abortion under the receiver to deflect links and cases is a hindrance, looks like the gun can be used left or right feed and eject. +1 on the m60 Iam with Oly on this I had mine tuned and adjusted to use minigun linked ammo as that was what was at hand at aviation ammo dumps. barrel was cut off at the gas plug and the best part you always have a c-rat can of peach's with you. danny

I thought it was a drum or assault pack type set up (even though they were feeding without using it)? If it's JUST a defelector then they've outdone themselves in the over-engineered category. A $15 piece of stamped steel (it is HK after all and a $0.50 piece of sheet metal just wouldn't do  ) would do the same thing.

OK, c-rat peaches were before my time. What do they have to do with the 60?

101, the crat can clips on at the feed box holder and helps the belt roll over and into the feed port stops the problem of the belt making a 90* turn into the feed port and when the day is done you got you a can of peachs. danny

I was a M60 gunner for a while. I still would like to have one of my own. I am not sold on that new one in the video.

Thanks BigSky, that makes sense now. And I can't think of a better use for a peach can since I don't like peaches.

I only had 3 experiences with the 60. I broke one down and reassembled it several times in Basic (but never got to fire it), carried the one assigned to my squad from another vehicle to the repair van we used to lock it in there for the duration of the FTX and then manned one night it in a foxhole during the next FTX where it jammed the first time we tried to fire it.

Actually there was a fourth time. On that last FTX we did a test fire the day after it jammed. It jammed again after 6-8 rounds but it happened just as a couple of OPFOR scouts started looking us over from a couple hundred yards in front of my position. We didn't know they were there but they thought we'd seen them and opened up...
