Finally had a minute to put up some photos of my 9422 score from last week.
Rifle cleaned up really well aside from the wrong rear sight and the scratches
on the receiver groove it's darned near new condition.
I had a couple spare Marbles rear sights so that was an easy fix. Filed down the
burrs (lightly) on the receiver and gave it a good cleaning.
Only issue left is that the magazine tube insert falls out if there aren't any
shells in the tube. My question for you guys that own one, "Does it look original?".
Haven't shot it yet but it feeds and functions perfectly.

The mag tube is probably going to fall out even if there are rounds in it. That's one of the flaws of this lever action. You have to pay close attention when walking through the woods with it. It might even be a good precaution to use a piece of electrical tape to secure the tube to the magazine when it's in use. My current one was modified by a previous owner. They cut the hole for the stud a little deeper and put a rubber O ring around the tube to keep tension on it. It's hard to take off to load, but it's not going to drop out on its own.
The rear site is what's left of the original. The elevator and blade are missing.
I'm not sure about the magazine tube. It might be a replacement, mine has a white or red follower, can't remember which and the rifle is burried deep in the closet.
Mine also let the inner tube pop out when it wasn't fully loaded. To fix that I put a slight bend in the little tab at the end of the outer tube outside of the slot. Hasn't moved in 25 years.

I'll keep what's left of the rear sight but I doubt I'll come across the missing pcs. I'm betting the
Marbles will work just fine.

besides being exceedingly green with envy, I am now crying loudly .....
back in 1972 I bought a 9422 from the Navy Exchange at Naval Air Station North Island ..... then sold it in 1997 to a pal who will still not sell it back to me.
I've got a friend like that too. He's got a couple of my guns and wont sell them back to me.
I bought my 9422 in 77 for my own present to me. It has been the best .22 rifle I've ever owned and due to that I've not seen the need or desire to buy another.
Now, I've been contemplating buying a second .22 rifle for my wife.
So far I've not seen anything available new that peeks my interest.

I had a "Friend" that would sell me his late father's S&W Model 27 every time he got into financial
trouble. He would call me up a year or two later and want it back, I always gave it back when he wanted it.
Ran into him a couple years ago and he'd sold it to another guy that wouldn't give it back.
Well he learned that lesson the hard way.
Thanks for the advice on the 9422 guys. Heading up right now to get it out and try the mag tube mods.

I Coon Fingered a Henry Youth .22 yesterday....If I wanted another "new" .22, this would be it....No safety non-sense, and a good solid feel to it.....

Well, it might come to that, but I'm not a fan of the Henry .22s. Good though they might be.
I think I'll be looking for a pre-safety Marlin or a Glenfield Mdl 60.

The Henry Youth Carbine would be my choice if I didnt have my 9422.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
It's much better looking than you let on...
