Win 94 44 Mag Extractor Help?

Post by Arminius »

Seems, the extractor on my ( non AE ) 94, .44 Mag got wrong. Cycled an Alu Dummy round, and suddenly it would jam. Rifle won´t close.

It seems, the extractor is touching the top of the chamber and prevents closing the action.

My gunsmith ( who is NOT an LA Expert! ) says, there are no more ANY 94 extractors, not even at Numrich Arms.

What do you all say?

Smith it? Build it up with the torch or flame, then file it down to correct shape?

Labour intensive, to say the least. Also will interfere with the spring steel characteristics.

Where to get a replacement extractor? Cheap? Is it the same as the .30-30 one?

ANY Help is appreciated, Thanks in advance, Hermann

Have you checked it with live ammo? I don't like aluminum or plastic dummies for checking an action. I use dummy cartridges I have made myself, and which I know to be in-spec.

Find another gunsmith.

Those extractors are out there. Just because Numrich doesn't have one today doesn't mean nobody has one.

Most likely if the action wont close the extractor is bent. That should be obvious to the naked eye. They can be straightened, but they might not last long afterwards.

Doing a search for the parts, or contact our own Nate Kiowa Jones, if anyone will know, he will.
