H&R 732

Post by Bridger »

Went in the LGS today and spotted one for $139. It was in pretty good shape and came with a holster. Didn't intend to buy anything but I let the owner talk me into it. (Actually it's on layaway at the moment). Don't really have a need for a .32 S&W long but the cartridge intrigued me and it seemed to fill a niche between my .22 and my .357 for woods walking. I know I probably paid a little much for it but I'm happy. Any input or pet loads for it?

Pictures to follow when I finally bring it home.

Yes,
I have a load that will shoot through to the last page of two Phoenix phone books ( soaked in water ) and expand reliably to .64 caliber.

Sounds like a fair price to me. Nice little gun, good investment, fun shooter

I shoot it from a Rossi solid frame revolver,
that is a solid frame revolver, it should handle it.

Deals like this bring a little tear to my eye........ If I was a betting man I think you'll find little use for a .22lr in the woods now. Nothing the rimfire will do that the .32 won't do better as long as it shoots straight.

Thanks guys, sounds like I did okay. Mescalaro, do tell it. I have been reading it is next to impossible to get one of those slow moving bullets to expand.

The pictured one looks exactly like mine, same condition and everything except mine has wood grips.

I have an H&R model 504 in .32H&R that my dad bought when the first came out with the cartridge. it is actually a very accurate gun and super fun to shoot.

I've loaded some with .32 long brass and with hornady 90gr swc and a low charge of universal.

I thought I would share the 732 that I am modifying right now. I put a Williams fire sight on the front and a peep on the back. It should make a nice trail gun.

I bought this gun for $75 about 5 years ago. The peep sight I made from 1/8 inch flat stock , so it isn't going to bend. What is nice about the 732 is that it has a slot for a rear sight blade. I just gave a piece of cherry to a guy at work today who has a scroll saw to cut out new grips. Fitting new grips is what is next.

Nice! I like that front sight especially, though.
