Re: Anudder Lever Gun,
Hey, It Did !
Here is the completed Receiver.
It will Shuffle, Shoot, and Shuck, just the way it is, all ye need is a barrel of some sort.
I have already put a short, temporary barrel in it and shot a couple of rounds.

Re: Anudder Lever Gun,
Wow sure looks nice. What caliber have shot ou of it? What caliber is it gonna be? Did you assemble?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: Anudder Lever Gun,
Turtleman, one leg gone.
This will shoot my famous little "40 Volcanic" cartridge, pushing 140 grain Flat Nose at 925 FPS.
This is not a kit, I made everything you see here, even the screws.

Sorry about the confusion there Charlie and AlphaWolf! This looks like a very interesting project. Have you worked with titanium before. Have read that is picky to work with.

Re: Anudder Lever Gun,
That's really awesome Charlie. I'm curious about finishing the outside surface. I've seen videos of Italian craftsmen at work on a shotgun receiver, either O/U or SxS and they do a lot of hand file work in the final shaping. How much of your sculpting/blending work is done by hand filing.

Up above you see a Bronze Receiver, it is square and blocky.
The Titianium one is finished. It took 28 hours to go from square and blocky to what you see here.
The top chamfers were done on the Milling Machine.
All the rest was done with a Belt Sander, Files, and emery cloth.
The Belt Sander was used to remove most of the metal. Then it's files. The final finish and polish is 100% manual, with coarse to fine Emery Cloth.
I do not use Power Tools of any sort after the Belt Sander.

Re: Anudder Lever Gun,
It is definitely a pleasure to see those photos of your craftsmanship! Titanium, Manganese Bronze ...... I think you enjoy metal, and interesting metals at that! Superb job. I get great enjoyment seeing the kind of craftsmanship that people who are good at what they do, can produce. Thanks for posting.

I probably did, Charlie, as I can't resist admiring these kinds of projects and the skill that is required.Charlie wrote: ... You used to visit my old build thread, didn't you?
