I've joined the club...

Post by Ysabel Kid »

Some of you will remember that I recently picked up a Ruger 22/45 "Lite". I added a Pearce Grip 1911 finger-groove insert and set of "Punisher" grips. This gun comes from the factory pre-threaded for various attachments including a supressor. Here is the picture I posted a while back.

And here it is now that I have joined the "quiet club"! :D :D :D

YK - Alright ! I remember when you first got the paperwork rolling. Now you're the quietest guy on the block. Very cool. We've got to see a range report soon. - DixieBoy

Yep - gotta post a Range Report soon. . . 8)

Hardest thing for me is trying to be 'cool' and call them "cans", instead of "suppressors". I know calling them "silencers" is kind of like calling magazines 'clips', but after hearing > David from LibertyCans call them 'silencers', I guess any term is ok. . . :D

Trust. My "local chief law enforcement officer" is the county sheriff. He jerked me around for half a year+ before having an underling inform me that he just doesn't believe in them, so he wouldn't sign the federal form. Doesn't know me very well, because that just made me more determined. Going the Trust route does not require his signature. Better yet, when Y2K comes of age, he'll be added to the trust, and it will make transferring this and future NFA items quick and easy.

Will do. Can't wait to get it out. Here's a pic of the gun I originally purchased it for:

I'd be campaigning to un-seat that clueless, power-hungry little wannabe-tyrant. Maybe he doesn't understand that when this nation was established, the idea was that the police and military both were told by the 'mere citizens' what guns and equipment they can have, and NOT the other way around. I know we've been living in an ignore-the-Constitution era for a generation or so now, but his ignorance would be more appropriate for a second-grader, and his arrogance more typical of a Nazi officer.

Just remember to keep the inside of that can clean, always thread it on snugly, and check it periodically (it will get hot though) to be sure it stays snug. You don't want it getting loose and wobbly and getting a baffle-strike...!

If it's like mine, there will be a variation in sound with different brands, even within the 'high-velocity' and 'standard/target' and 'subsonic' categories. Accuracy will likely vary too, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the range-time needed to see what ones work best. 8) (If not, I guess you could force YK2 to be there and do some of the shooting for you... )
