Question for left handed levergunners

Post by Dave B »

My young son is a lefty like me. I don't have a problem shooting most rifles because I am right eye dominant.
My son however, does shoots lefty. I have been looking at a Savage Mk II GLY 22lr rifle for him. He is big like me and growing so fast he will out grow the youth model. If I get him a full size rifle, I would prefer to get him a levergun.
Times are way to tough for a 9422, so I'm thinking about a Henry 22lr. His cousin has one and I think they are pretty nice little rifles.
How does ejection on the Henry, or even the 9422, affect the lefthanded shooter?
Thanks,

Dave B

No experience with the Henry, but leverguns are the one type of action where the brass ejecting out to the right isn't "disturbing". Maybe because I'm more fixated on working the lever, but that's just the way it is.

I had a Henry .22 mag. and it never bothered me. I shoot both sides but usually start left handed.

My grandson is left handed, he bought a Henry and has no trouble at all with it.

plus you can order the left-handed lever from Henry and put it on yourself.

Dave,

I shoot my Henry with either hand. I have no problems with it.

I'm a lefty lever guy too. Even under rapid fire conditions on a mechanical running deer contest at the Dynamite Shoot in CO, no problem with my 92 Puma 454. Range was about 35 yards, three shots on 8 inch target on the deer for points. I even beat out one of my Shootist friend's that round! Hehe. Hey, we all get lucky once in a while! -Tutt
