Old Savage, I suffered a broken femur back in 1968 while in the Army it's a long road to recover from but the surgical repair will help speed that.

All the best...you are well thought of here, and have a lot of people on your side.

Pat, take the time to take care of yourself, too.

Guys, just so you'll know I have a friend in Olathe,Ks who just underwent surgery for a broken leg shattered right below the knee joint. He isn't allowed to put any weight on it for 6 weeks.

Better pray harder.

Yea, my BIL broke his just below the head, roller skating (you'd think a guy whose had a heart transplant would take it a little easy). The no weight bearing for six to eight weeks was the hard part. They so start physical therapy almost immediately, so do it!

I had a collison like that once... 1967... My '55 2-dr Chevy Wagon got it's grille wrapped around the front left corner of a '68 Dodge Polaris... which had those police bumpers on the front... because... well... it was a police car! I was doin' around 35 and he was doin' close to 60! I walked away.

In fact, if that pesky radiator hadn't gotten all chewed up by the fan, I mighta been able to drive away. Well... that and the motor and trans mounts were all broken! Cop wasn't so lucky. When he came to in the hospital, he was in cuffs. Apparently, even back then, you're not allowed to drink and drive (especially a squad car), when you're off-duty!

Glad you're still amongst us Fred. The p/u is just a "thing"... easily replaced. Your humor and input here isn't!

OS - Like Hobie said, good to see the evidence that you're on the mend. That was one heck of a hit. We're lucky to still have you with us.

When she was in her early 80's my Mom got broadsided by a speeding driver. Looking at her car afterwards you'd wonder if someone was maybe killed in the crash. Bless her heart, Mom didn't have a single broken bone, but she was one big bruise almost from head to toe. Mom had the best sense of humor. The first thing she'd say when friends and family first saw how banged up she was, was to hold up her first and say "yeah, but you should see the other guy" while shaking her first. Had us all laughing so hard we'd be crying.

Keep that great spirit of yours up OS, and the (nurses) pictures coming too ! :D - DixieBoy
