Wow! What fun!

Post by TedH »

Had my first experience with exploding targets today. Got the ingredients and mixed up my own Tannerite. What a blast, literally! A half pound of the goods shot with a 22-250 will make quite a boom! It was a lot bigger blast than I was anticipating! Trying to get a short video uploaded, will post a link if I get it online.

Here's the video clip my wonderful fiance put together.

We talked a local gun shop into stocking them, and at first they thought nobody would buy them. Now they can barely keep them in stock. People buy cases at at time for around $115, or individual ones I think are $4.00.

Shooting a watermelon with an '06 or .308 is fun but to make it extra special, carve out a hole and place inside a 1/2 lb of Tannerite. It vaporized the watermelon!

Fun stuff. However you have to watch where you take it to shoot. There have been some brush fires started around here from folks taking it to the desert and shooting it.

Hey good sport, nice girlfriend. :D

But I gotta say I like the sign she's pointing at better. If I had a business, that sign would be on the front door.

My wife didn't shoot her S&W 34 enough so I sold it and bought us (me) a Ruger SP101 in .22. I guess now I have to post pictures of that.

+1

Sad to say that it looks like the fire down near Colorado Springs was started by Tannerite. However, the moisture from the watermelon kills any chance for a flash started fire.

It's so dry around here, we always have problems with brush fires in the summer. From about July on into October-ish, even the Wet side of the Mountain is tinder dry. Really :P
