Daughter in Hospital UPDATE GOOD NEWS

Post by TedH »

My 5 year old baby girl had been sickly for a day or so. Wife took her to her regular doctor yesterday and they sent her right over to the hospital to be admitted. After being there for 36 hours, they still don't know what's wrong with her. Please pray with us that it's nothing too bad. She's our only baby and seeing her there with the needles and tubes sticking out of her is just hard to deal with. Would appreciate your thoughts.

UPDATE

After getting some lab tests back this morning, the doctors determined she has a particularly nasty strain of Salmonella. She had become dangerously dehydrated from uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea, but the intravenous fluids are keeping her hydrated now. Fortunately, they don't think the infection has spread from her intestines into her bloodstream and are now giving her a high powered antibiotic through her IV. Should be back to herself in a few days. Bad thing is we have no idea where she got it, and may never know. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers, I'm sure they helped.

Done Ted. I know how you feel. My son was born early by 2 months. By the time he was two he'd been in the hospital 4 times. Absolute helplessness come to mind.

That's a tough one Ted, and it doesn't help that a good doctor may be stumped for right now. But God knows, and he hears prayers, this is his little one too. Keep the faith my friend, there's strength in prayer.

Your daughter's right about that age, where kids start to pick up germs, etc, from any and everyone.
I hope she gets better, soon - and please comfort your wife with the knowledge that your little girl's in the best place for her, right now.

My wife & I will pray for her speedy recovery.

Glad to hear things are getting better. If you don't already have some around the house something really good to keep on hand are (sp?) Pedalite pops. you can get them from the drug store, as in CVS, etc. They are like little Popsicles you freeze. they have a mild fruit flavor to them but with kids they get dehydrated so fast it's always something to watch out for. The pops also have much needed electrolytes that keep other bad things from happening.

Good juju all the way around.

update

Post by brucew44guns »

Thanks for the update, and the good news. Just to discover and isolate the problem, then begin the attack on those germs is heartening to say the least. That little girl has a lot of fight in her and is as strong as a horse most likely, with a little help that comes from a Doc who is in the know, well, she's jumping 10 rail fences again real soon. Glad for this news, glad for you and her mom too.
