The things you find...

Post by Old Ironsights »

During this most recent bout of unemployment, I've been working on cleaning the basement and came up with a 1lb coffee can of old shotgun shells.

Got 14 paper Winchester low-brass 12ga "super trap" marked 3-1,1/8 7,1/2

Pretty cruddy looking, but all intact (unlike some of the rotted-out high-brass plastic hull shells)

Anybody need something like that for a shell board?

It imploded.

I'm too "educated" for the area (to be a laborer) and make other labor types uncomfortable - even if I do the work without complaint.

Oh well.

Something will turn up... or the country will collapse. Six one, Half Dozen the other.

Maybe the College will want a Philosophy Adjunct. It's not like I can afford to get a PHD to be a Prof...

Yah, that's what I'm looking at now, along with Seasonal NPS @ Ft. Laramie, if I don't get this Survey/Sample Testing job with DOT for the bypass project...

Torrington is building a bypass/overpass to get the beet trucks over the UP line easier.

Also doing Red Card Forrest Service FireFighting this year. Season's already turning to be sparky...

Oh, yes. Thank you. Worked just fine. Sorry I forgot to let you know.

Skull turned out nicely too. A guy I know turned out to have beetle tank. All I have to do now is seal it from the elements before mounting it in the back yard.

Obviously I missed OI not working at the prison anymore. What happened? Corrections Officers are generally in demand as most can't stand the work for long. I know I couldn't do the job.

OI - Have you tried the local police departments/sherrifs/jails to see if there is a "jailer" position open? Just a thought.

I'm pretty much open to whomever will hire me in a 50mi radius.

There is an over 150% turnover at that prison.

I didn't leave because of the job - I liked the work - I was forced out because I didn't like the senior brass, their desire for a staff of JBTs, and their insistence I violate my Medical code of Ethics. (I am an EMT and was a Medical Transportation Officer, running inmates sometime several hundred miles - across unpopulated Wyoming, and the Yahoos in charge would not even let me carry basic medical supplies to deal with things like Anaphalaxis or Diabetic/Cardiac Emergencies... assuming they would even condescend to let me know if any particular inmate I was transporting had a life threatening condition )

More school. Gotta buy a Teaching Certificate too. But, like I said, being an Adjunct in a Philosophy Dept would be cool.

Hey OI, ever thought about looking for grants to go back to school? I've been retired for many years but I remember there was a lot grant money available for people pursuing PHDs back when I was teaching in college.
