Thanks Fred. I did enjoy that. The detail in the owl's face is simply amazing.

I notice that the owl had leather tethers attached to it's legs. I'm thinking that the cat and owl were raised together.

Great video!!

The Owl and the Pussycat

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussycat! O Pussycat, my love,
What a beautiful Pussycat you are, you are, you are,
What a beautiful Pussycat you are."
Pussycat said to the Owl "You elegant fowl,
How charmingly sweet you sing.
O let us be married, too long we have tarried;
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows,
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose, his nose, his nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling your ring?"
Said the Piggy, "I will"
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon.
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand.
They danced by the light of the moon, the moon, the moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

I think that it was posted before. The cat and owl were raised together. :)

That little film reminds me of a pet barn owl that we had as kids. I found it as a little white fuzz ball in our hay barn and raised it from "drinking" pureed liver and etc to eating mice and dog food. They do develop into characters and learn dog and animal tricks like hanging out at the back door and staring inside. When the owl would see you looking he would bob and weave and hop around wanting to come inside. One Sunday afternoon my aunt and grandmother came to have supper and marveled at the owl sleeping on a chair back, his favorite roost. Well, in the middle of eating the owl stood up, raised his tail and let loose a long white stream. My dad went ballistic and banished the owl to the back yard for a few days. Everyone got a good laugh out of it later, but the owl wasn't trusted inside for too long after that. Never caged, the owl eventually flew away after several years. Too bad that there was no video in the '50s. Even movie cameras were seldom used, too expensive.

Ive got a couple of types of big owls that live around me the great horned and snowy owls they hammer the turkeys and peacocks on a regular basis I find a pile of feathers and bones on the ground at the base of the roost trees and they love chicken if the chickens dont make it back to the coup and roost along the crick they're a goner.
If you have a problem of voles moles or pocket gophers you know the little buggers that come out at night set up a pole with a cross bar on top about 8-10 ft off the ground the owls will come perch on it and watch for dinner I've just about kept the pasture free of pocket gophers that way. danny

Thanks OS, we just finished supper so I had my wife and grandson sit down at the computer and watch the " Owl and the Pussycat". then she read all the post and really laughed on your story about the dinner table. We have an African Grey parrot. He like to sit on the back of her chair when we eat and be fed, and yes we have those long streamers too. Thanks again for the fun.
