I think I got one from MarlinOwners.com, but not from Marlin Firearms - maybe that's what you got...?

I received one from Marlinowners also. Probably because I didn't supply my year hatched when I signed up.

I got one of those too, and my birthday is nowhere near thhereis month. Besthere. ides, I got kicked off Marlinowners three or four years ago and let's just say I've got no use for them. It may not be from them at all, though, in all fairness. This may be some sort of scam that has one of our email addresses, from the looks of what some of us have been saying. Someone may have hacked into one of our email accounts.

MarlinOwners sent me b-day email on the 1st also. Since I'd not listed by b-day there (or here) I figured it was some sort of "...if, then, else..." programming... and ignored it! :P :P

If Marlin... then no, they're NOT gone. I just ordered new factory sights from my .45Colt 1894 Marlin project today. Nice guy on the phone... even if he insisted it was .45 LONG Colt!

Marlin isn't "gone" but it is no longer a freestanding company. Freedom Group (Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS, H&R, etc) bought Marlin 2 or 3 years ago, and closed the CT facility, moving lever gun manufacturing to Ilion NY. They stopped production of lever guns for a good part of 2011 to address QC issues, but varying reports have them back on line now. So no, not "gone" yet, but until and unless they tighten up their operation, I don't see em keeping a viable lever action manufacturing line going much longer. They have burned a lot of consumer confidence over shoddy guns, and we know that's hard to get back.....

The emails were from Marlinowners.com, something to do with changing a server that erroneously sent out a bunch of erroneous birthday wishes.

Marlin, the company, is gone, but the brand is being carried on by Remington who's spent a bunch of money & effort in correcting problems with recent production leverguns.

These bogus birthday greetings have nothing to do with Marlin or the Marlin Owners website! Look at the sender's address; firearms@forumfoundry.com

I for one do not wish to explore that address.

I got one also, right after the 1st of the year. Since my birthday is the 29th, I thought they were just early. Oh well, I'm not special anymore.
