The weather has gone from freezing to very warm. I dressed light and took the 9422 small game hunting.
Got me some rabbit and squirrel to take the gamedealers, should get a little fuel for the car,,,,
I took this snap whilst resting, what you can't see is the gamebag on my far side full of rabbit and squirl.
I thought the photo turned out well.
As ever the 9422 never fails to work perfectly and I am always in admiration of it
That's a great picture. You seem to spend more time out doors hunting than most of us. I envy that.
The Winchester 9422 is one of those designs that is just "right". I bought mine back in 77 and have been so completely satisfied with it I've never felt the need or desire for another 22 rifle.
What is that wooden frame thing you are sitting on?

The land owners never had sheep on here but do have alot of horses , IIRC it was filled with old tyres (tires) to create a horse jump.
Joe I have been extremely lucky for over eighteen years on this patch now, able to come and go as I wish etc. That aside it could all end soon as the main patch of land is for sale! I doubt the new comers will be so accommodating! Yes, it will break my heart! I get all itchy if I am not here within a couple of days.
Nath, that is an excellent photo. It does not merely convey information, it evokes a mood. Very nice.

Nath,Thanks for another fine post and pictures. enjoy it all You can. thirty five years ago My family and I had a small wilderness nearby that was around 4000 acres. we could hunt for a week at a time and never see another hunter. I called it "My little Canada". can't tell how many Deer we saw or Ruffed Grouse in the fall, squirrels,mink,beaver you name it. now it is a housing development and I can drive right in to where We hunted.Gone with the wind. .
Nice photo Nath. Is that how you dress when it's 'very warm' over there? lol. I'd hate to see what you have to wear when it's cold

Yep GK, carry handle back on but the irons are still there and set
The scope is a Nikon 2-7x32. Today Tia went on point with a rabbit not four yards from her nose, dropping the scope down to 2x let me thread a bullet through the twigs She is a brilliant hunting buddy, we make a good team.
Great pics Nath, makes me want to be where you are, looks like beautiful country and a nice gun makes the hunt and picture even better.

Yes, great photo of you, Tia and the patch there! Having your own little corner o' the world to enjoy this activity is priceless. Part of my growing up was in San Antonio. After much/frustrated looking, we discovered a very rare (in those parts) "patch" that didn't.seem to belong to anyone--a "U" shaped parcel without any fence/signs at the one end. It was a delightful little spot, a little Eden with a lush wash running through, where we did our weekend shooting and hunting, including deer--without anyone ever showing up to tell us to the contrary. Virtually everywhere else we'd found "keep out," and "no shooting/hunting" signs. Unlike Az, very little public land in south/central Tx. We're very spoiled here! Conversely, the beauty of private land hunting--when you can get it--is not having the entire world showing up to join you. Nath, I hope you can keep your patch!

Wonderful picture. At least a dozen of my family spent thier youth in England during 2 World Wars. They even brought back brides! My one aunt pictured my uncle's homestead like that picture. She cried for a month when she finally arrived north of Edmonton to the stump ranch. Within a year she went to his first posting as a Forest Ranger to a reserve known as Wabasca. 8 days by pack train carrying her first child and pregnent with her second. She was one of the kindest and toughest woman I've ever known. You Brits sure are sturdy folk.
