Would like to add this little gem to the accumulation...

Post by Ben_Rumson »

It’s Pedersoli’s 15.2 mm bore (equates to about 60 caliber) AN IX De Gendarmerie flintlock pistol.... Wow!, Them Frenchy 5-0s meant business!! FYI the barrel is 5-1/8th inches long with an ID of .599 inch and the whole thing is 9-3/4 inches long...They take a .570” ball and a .015” patch over 30gr. FFFg...No need for a tight patch/ball combo with this lil belly gun...

Yep, it probably will be a handfull O fun.. 280gr round ball over 30gr FFFg... As much as I'd like to know its velocity, I don't think I have the nerve to try clocking it over the Chrony...Wellll maybe....

Should you try clocking it , I would suggest you use caution !

I smoked the front of my original Chrony with a inline ML from about 6 yards !

Well maybe "smoked" is not the correct term , the stuff that blows out fried the LED !!!!!!

I hear that.. Just bullet lube from the cast bullets I've shot over it have damaged the LED cover.. With this pistol there will be a patch following the ball...It only weighs 1 & 3/4ths pounds... On top of that it's a smooth bore w/no sights and probably a goodly amount recoil movement... Can't place it too far away & risk hitting it...But need it close enough to get the ball through the sky screens...

Try mounting your chronographs on a 2x6, with a piece of 1/2" thick steel about 7"x21"to shield the instrument. At that angle, even a .30 FMJ would deflect upwards if shot too low.

A .690 round ball is 1oz.

I shoot them over 80gr 3F.

The sabot slugs in the picture get 50gr 3F and they sound like an 80mm mortar being fired.

I've never shot them over a chrono.

Love the flinter looks fun. If I had one of those big bore howdah doubles i'd probably have to try crawling in a bears den just to see what happens, OR better yet convince Pitchy it would make a cool video and send him in while I hold the camera.http://www.levergunscommunity.com/posti ... =1&t=38851#
