Now it`s toasters
What`s next bought this one yesterday and it even works.
Going looking for more remember the pop up ones that made a ticking noise while toasting, the timer.

Re: Now it`s toasters
I have one of those. Makes the best toast ever!! You just have to remember to change sides. I used mine in my college days. If memory serves it was 45 seconds for the first side when started cold, then 30 seconds for each side after that. Mine would change sides by simply opening the doors and reclosing them. I should dig mine out and try it out.

Re: Now it`s toasters
I liked them for bagels or English muffins - you could just toast the 'cut' side.

wow that's really old tech. -- never seen one before--thanks for sharing, love the stuff you find... :)
Re: Now it`s toasters
I like stuff like that! Thanks!
We didn't have a toaster when I was a kid, we made toast in the broiler section of the gas oven. Worked good!

never buy a new teflon/aluminum waffle iron - they make terrible waffles and don't last.
Go to an old garage sale and pick up a 15-lb stainless steel way before your time variety.

Re: Now it`s toasters
I always like the old style toasters with fold open doors. One old guy who was a friend of the family used to have one where he worked and would toast his crackers to make them crisp. At one time crackers came in squares and broke into four little squares but the boxes were not moisture proof. Most commercial crackers were considered stale and toasting them was a way to get them the crisp most people wanted. Just a bit of trivia. ATB
Re: Now it`s toasters
When the wife and I got married her brother gave us one of those pop up toasters and the thing had such a strong spring in it if you weren't standing right there it would throw the toast right out and onto the floor. I used to laugh at the thing every time we used it.

Re: Now it`s toasters
Cool, thanks guys.
Found a couple more today, lot harder to find than i thought.
The single bread one was made in 1921, the spring was broke on the timmer but fixed it and it ticks fine. It is missing the feet and one knob but works good.
The other one is more modern but has a cloth cord so must be a little old, works great.
So far i have 30 bucks in all them.

I remember one like the one on the right.
Seems like my Mom would burn out a toaster about every other year.
We sure went through a lot of them.

My inlaws had a cabin at the beach in Washington state. In the cabin they had a toaster that looked like that, but the bread went in one end and came out the other on a track, all toasted.
Someone broke in the cabin and the toaster came up missing. It was an oldie.

My ma used to make toast off the old cast iron stove top. Of course that was over 60 years ago and it probley was old then.
