Re: Trail Cam Picture...
Is that a wolf or just a really healthy coyote?

Wow! Great picture!
Re: Trail Cam Picture...
Wow. Quite a pic......... It must be a wolf. I don't think a coyote could cary a fawn.

Looks like a Coyote to me. Here on the east coast, right in my backyard, I've seen 75 pound Coyotes. They can easily carry a fawn. There is some talk that what we have out here is some kind of hybred. Coyote / Eastern Wolf mix.....................Much bigger than the dogs I've shot and seen out west.

I also think that where its at in relation to the camera makes it look larger than it really is. No doubt its strong though carrying that deer off.
Re: Trail Cam Picture...
I saw one dog coyote that a friend of mine's uncle killed in the Poconos back about 2004 that weighed on the game scales ungutted 82 pounds !
Also saw a bitch coyote he killed that weighed I think almost 60 pounds in the same general area . And this one was also around 2003 or 2004 .

What kimwcook said , But one ate my dog a few years back and I saw it take him away.
Re: Trail Cam Picture...
I've seen coyotes on one of my old leases in west Texas that were bigger than any I have seen before or since. They looked like German Shepherds, 75 - 80 pounds easy. I was sitting on the ground hunting one time and one of them popped out of the bush not 3 feet from me. I could have reached out and grabbed it by the neck. Scared the bejeebers outta me!
That's a nice pic, but I hate to see the little ones killed like that. What's the coyote population like in PA?

Re: Trail Cam Picture...
Several years ago a hunter took a 'yote off a friend's farm about ten miles from here. It was 90 pounds! My friend was pretty excited about it, since she is in her 90s and lives on the farm alone!

I would assume if one were taking it to a taxidermist they just might do that . However I did not want some wiseass coming back and asking me if that was live weight or dressed !jnyork wrote:I dont hunt coyotes, so excuse the dumb question, why do you gut a coyote?6pt-sika wrote:I saw one dog coyote that a friend of mine's uncle killed in the Poconos back about 2004 that weighed on the game scales ungutted 82 pounds !
