OT Connecticut

Post by 93marshooter »

My son is considering a job in Connecticut. He will have to leave his AR in TX as they are not permitted in that state. I suppose his Win 94 will be a good choice for recreational and serious use up there. What is allowed? the law tells what is not allowed. He has no interest in CC. Any "assault rifle" has to be sold or out of the state in 90 days.

Don't get caught driving through NJ with any guns.

As above, don't get caught in NJ or NEW YORK CITY with any guns. Locked in the trunk, ammo separate, and don't stop even for lunch..... Inquire with the Sheriff's Department about handguns BEFORE ya go there.....

93marshooter,

Tell your son to reconsider and stay in TX. Moving to that area isn't worth the loss of freedom.

You're still his father, tell him if he disobeys you'll ground him till he's 80.

Same here. Once you compromise your principles and way of life, you find a bit of your soul winds up missing... Likely the reason the 'pay is better' is because they have to pay more to entice people to go there and give up so much; it isn't just 'gun freedoms' you lose in places like that, it's ALL freedoms - such places tend to be filled with those who think success is a matter of who makes the most money or has the most material things, and that how you get there is not necessarily by hard work, but by navigating the right government handout or getting the government to screw your competitors. No thanks. YMMV.

Hi -

I'm not conversant with the laws in CT, but I don't think there is a blanket ban on all AR's. Your son might get a few pointers from this group :

There are a lot of CT folks on it.

As for the taxation etc, can't help you there. Good luck

The Connecticut State Rifle and Revolver Asso. would probably be a good source for the information you seek:

Connecticut State Rifle & Revolver Association
P.O. Box 754
North Haven, CT 06473

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I have no interest in Black Rifles But know a few folks who have had a type of AR built in the last few years so certain types are legal.
Maybe I shouldn't say anything, but I have lived in CT all my life. I would have to say that it isn't in anyway a sportmens dream living here. I have killed about 100 whitetails in my life here but in my lifetime partridge and quail have disappeared and farms and hunting land are fast going. We are surounded by New York and Boston types. If you vote for a republician except the fact that you are voting for a loser even if they are running against a wack job. Gun laws are always tightening.
Taxes are high and it is expensive to live here. Gas is the second highest in the country.
That said centerfire rifles over .24 are legal for hunting deer on private land if you are on ten or more acres and have permission of the landowner. State land is shotgun or muzzleloader only.
Tell him to think long and hard about it. If not for my children and wifes folks being nearby I think I would be the first to leave CT since 1690.
