mag follower advice

Just ordered the stainless steel mag. follower from steve's gunz for my rossi m92 in 38/357. Any advice or points on installing one of these. Just thought i would ask before i have to bring out my favorite tool, the "hammer". While I'm on here, been reading the forum for a while and can't say enough on how everyone is willing to help fellow shooters and such. Even the moderators have been patient and friendly! thanks for your time and happy shooting.

Best advice, just don't get frustrated. If you get stuck, ask about a specific detail.

My advice is once ya succeed in getting it apart, do two things. Wind some steel wool around an old cleaning brush and use a drill motor to polish the heck out of the inside of the mag tube until it shines like a new penny, get the wool fragments out with a paper towel or other patch, and use a paper towel and paste car wax to wax heck out of the mag tube insides. Then use never-sieze on the screws when ya put er back together.

Piece of cake:

Remove magazine plug screw retaining the magazine plug and screw.
Remove magazine spring and el cheapo plastic follower.
Using normal cleaning equipment with Hoppe's #9, a brush, and patches clean the inside of the tube.
Run a slightly oiled patch down the tube.
Lube the new follower with the lightly lubed patch.
Put the new follower on the end of the magazine spring and slide it into the tube.
Replace the tube plug and screw and you're done.

Not quite as vigorous a cleaning job as adirondakjack's but that's how I do them and it's always worked for me.

Does the screw that is screwed into the tube band from the bottom at the front end of magazine have to come out too? Or just the screw plug at the of the tube magazine? Just trying to absorb as much info i can before new follower arrives and I tackle my new upgrade. thanks.

No, the barrel band screw is left in place.

Do yourself a favor, quickly contact Steve and have him add one of his CDs on how to slick up your Rossi. You won't regret it, money well worth it.

Yep. I didn't think I'd "appreciate" it all that much, since I had already figured out some of the things on my own, but it is really worth it.
