Sold some gold and silver today
I can not remember exactly what I was thinking back then, but it was fortuitous.

I bet!
My Dad recently sold a bunch, including some South African Kugerrands. Got a pile of $$ for 'em!
I only have some silver dollars to go with my leverguns. A couple 1886's an 1894 and a couple 1895's.
There's a guy I work with with that wants to trade a Civil War musket for some silver. He's
not too bright so I'm betting I can get it pretty cheap.

Well, I traded gold for the silver: I figured if I wanted a loaf of bread and I had an ounce of gold; the guy with the bread would get over big time.
When I did this particular transaction, silver was $6.00 an ounce!

I keep hearing talk about gold going up to $4000 an ounce. With the issues with the economy I suppose it is possible. I sure did pay a heck of a lot more for it when I bought my wife a ring for her birthday!

You know how cool it is to pull gold out of the ground by just expending physical labor?

I would love to dig some gold or other precious metals and minerals. Not much here in NY, but metal detecting is fun.
I have recently been playing around with portable hand held black lights, I hear they work well for finding mineral and precious metal in old mines, have you tried the black light thing?

Yep, patience, before trimming one's hedges, often pays extra dividends.

Yeah, I heard that they glow quite well. I hate bugs, especially ones that bite!

When gold hit $1200, I took some junk (watch cases, chains, tie clips, etc.) down to this jewelry store who buys it. 18K gold is 58% gold, so if you have an ounce of 18K, its worth about $600+. They give you half of the current value.

I always thought "investing in precious metals" meant investing in lead, brass, stainless steel, and so on...
