94 Marlin limited

Post by wsmrto »

I have a 1894 S Marlin Limited that was supposed to be built in 1994. this is like new in 45 Colt with a 16 1/4 inch barrel. I have read that this is a rare model and has collector value. I have fired it about 20 times and it is a blast (PUN intended) to shoot. I can't find any info on this model and it's not in any catalogs. Besides the great shooter it is and light weight for an old fanny burp to carry around in these dry NM canyons what is the value on this. Not really want to sell, but interested to learn more about what I've got.

Maybe it was a special-run for Davidson's or someone like that...?

Well, its been fired so a collector wouldn't be that interested in top dollar pricing. however, if you have the box, paperwork, hangtag, etc., you might be able to command a higher price than 'just another commemorative' model.

I believe it was a run done for Davidsons. They sold 16" rifles in .357, 44 and .45 in varying small quantities. The first two digits of a Marlin's serial number, subtracted from 100 is the year of manufacture. If it was made in '94, the first two would be "06".

1st for Mescalero, City of the Cross's! 2nd. No box, no papers, got it at an auction at a nice $. I really enjoy using it as it is great for an old fanny burp like me to carry around in the thick scrub high desert mountains and canyons. l made a nice sling and matching leather buttstock cover for it to try and keep it from getting all nicked up. Have been handloading 255 Gr. LFN over 11 Gr of unique and they shoot real nice at 50 to 100 yds. I can sometimes hit a 200 yd. steel Ram if I do my par, holdover is about 2 feet. I put a Skinner peep on it where it is D&T and had to go to a higher Ft. sight, but having eye trouble (OLD) so think I will try a short little compact scope. I just found out that I drew out for Deer but not for Elk. Makes 6 years straight with no Elk tag.

Cool, that's not far from me.
Plenty of space to shoot where I am from.
We have feral hogs and I intend to get in on some of that action.
They seem to be creeping closer to me, time for intervention.
