Sir, I've spent a lot of years in a profession that deals largely with the unpleasant side of
people. After all that, you are an inspiration! That is very kind and generous of you!!

If I may, could I please be entered into the drawing? If I should win, I will offer a
pristine, vintage Winchester lever gun in a free drawing for the Board members by way
of thanks.

You lead by example, and that's very admirable!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

rjohns94 wrote:In the spirit of Christmas and because I know there are those out there that want a sharps but can't scrounge the change,[ I would like to offer a C. Sharps Arms, 1875, near new, 26 inch barrel in 45-70, half round, half octagon, globe front, vernier tang, no barrel rear sight, with silver cap on forestock, with xxx fancy wood in a sort of giveaway. These run a bit over $2000 and there is a significant wait for them. I thought I would hold a raffle, no price for the tickets. I will draw a name out of the hat on Christmas eve at noon from all the persons here who wish to own the rifle. I would ask if you have one, not to apply If you don't and want one I will let this one go to the winner for $200 + shipping to your dealer. thats right, $2000 rifle for $200 to the winner that is drawn. I'm thinking most could come up with that. You can send the money later down the road. I will ship it to your ffl on Monday after Christmas.

So drop a note here and I will give you all a slip for the drawing. I will post the winner here after confirming they want it. Remember, your only costs will be $200 and shipping. It will ship in a plastic shipping case.

Good luck.
Maybe a little reminder of the words in bold here might be appropriate at this time?

No need to put me in the draw - there are obviously many members here who would appreciate that fine gun far more than I would, and my Marlins do all I need.

It'a really NICE thing you're doing, though...!

Very generous indeed. I have thought about getting a Sharps many times. However, if I get the itch bad enough I can afford to buy one and would hope the winner of your raffle is someone who couldn't afford a Sharps otherwise. I trust your kindness will be returned many fold. Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to all.

Can't believe I didn't see this post earlier!

Mike, I have a Pedersoli 1874 Sharps in .45-120, so close enough that I don't feel right throwing my name in the hat. Y2K though would very much like to do so. If he wins, I will cover the $200 +s/h for him.

You are generous beyond words my friend - and a true example to others.

Rjohns94, When I first saw this incredible offer, I was one of the first to say count me in. However, after rereading the offer and thinking about this for awhile I would like to ask that you:

Please withdraw my name from considration

While I don't have a 45/70 and would dearly love to own a Sharps, I could, if need be, scrape together enough to order one. Maybe this will increase the odds for someone who could not.

Again I would like to thank you for the generous offer.
