After watching Wind and his mate shooting the dinger at 800 yards I decide to order a set of Winds shooting sticks and see if they would work in the Southern Hemisphere. They are a quality piece of gear and I fell in love with them straight away.

First pic is me trying to perfect my style with the sticks. My "poor mans dinger" can just be seen as a yellow dot. It is 180 metres away. Not as far off as Wind, but you gotta start some place. This is typical of the "Inland Table Land" area of New South Whales. Elevation in about 900 metres above sea level. This is on private property I have access to, the property owner runs sheep mainly and some stud cattle. Foxes, Goats and Pigs are the main targets here with an occasional Fallow dear in the area.

Here is an 1873 I was using. 44-40 with original barrel but an old refinish. Keen eyed boys that you are will note that the full length mag tube must have been added when it was refinished years back.

This is the group that I was happy with. There are a couple of 30-30 hits on the bottle as well.
Now all I need to do is keep practising so that I can start making hits further out. May need to use my 38-55 or 32-40 for longer attempts.

Them're some mighty heavy-duty shootin' sticks! Makes mine look really light-weight. But, I find that sans a bench, they're the next best thing!
These happen to be my "prone" sticks, made short enough that you can lie prone behind them and be right comfortable. Legal for NRA BPCRS matches.

I have to confess Old Ironsighs, it was full the first time I shot it with my 7mm-08.
