Hard to pick just one..

John Denver before he got drunk and flew his Pitts Special into the ground
Doug Kershaw.. Just got to love Cajun music. Makes me dance around the kitchen will cooking Jambalaya/
Hank Williams..Good old Honky Tonk country music
Patsy Cline... She sang like an angel
The Chieftans..Traditional Irish Music

Hum..They are all dead but Kershaw and the Chieftans. I guess I am out of touch.

P.S. I also like classical music. Yitzak Pearlman on the violin and Yoyo Ma on the chello are wonderful. I groove on strings. I went to a Pearlman concert once in Tel Aviv. I thought I was in heaven.

Marty Robbins none better; Glenn Yarbrough, Frankie Lane as they sang alot of the theme songs to the TV westerns. I prefer western music from Don Edwards, Michael M Murphy, Ian Tyson, RW Hampton. I dont care for the country music out of nashville these days except for Alison Krauss.

I have no particular band/artist that I prefer, although there are many that I like and more that I don't. There's too many to list. I like most of what's been mentioned, but will add Def Leppard and AC/DC. Kenny Rogers and Dolly doing "Island in the Stream" was outstanding, particularly through a set of Altec-Lansings. And I know all of the words to A Pirate Looks At Forty.

I have gone through phases, and like a variety of music, but my favorite band has always been AC/DC.

The Band
The Allmann Bros.
The Tragically Hip
The Talking Heads
King Crimson, especially with Adrian Belew
but I can listen to Sam Cooke over and over all day and all night long.
Lyle Lovett is one of the all-time best songwriters.

damienph, Moving Waves was my first vinyl and I have a pretty big collection of Focus

long-haired music? DeBussy, Ricard Strauss (4 last songs and all the lieder), Delibis, Mozart, Bach concertos, Beethoven's 8th (his tribute to Mozart) and Corelli violin sonatas.
also an early recording of Heifetz playing Franck violin sonata in A. The second movement of Beethoven's 9th when conducted properly is an astounding piece, as is the Confutatis from Mozart's Requiem. I have a pretty good collection of Hungaratron analog recordings on vinyl. The communists knew how to focus their performances on the composer rather than their egos - Izzak Perlman's recorded performance of Vivaldi's 4 seasons is self-aggrandizing - it should be about the weather, not about him.

speaking of Beethoven's 9th, this is the best recording I've ever heard - I have it on vinyl - 4 sides.
It's 90 minutes long, the way Beethoven intended - this music is destroyed when its rushed, and most early recordings were 60 minutes to get it on 2 sides of vinyl

I like so many different kinds of music it's very hard to put the tag "favorite" on them.

However I'd have to say The Beatles and Abba are two of my more favorite groups and my favorite female singer is Kylie Minogue.

First thing to get straight is rap is not music. It can't be as there is no melody.

I like classic country, texas country, classic rock, bluegrass, and a few Christian bands. If I had to narrow it down to my faves they would be, in no particular order:

Classic Country:
Hank Sr.
Hank Jr.
Johnny Cash
Waylon
Willie
Chris Kristofferson (sp?)
Merle Haggard.....and the list goes on

Texas Country: (my favorite genre)
Cross Canadian Ragweed (more rock than country)
Jason Boland
Roger Creager
Randy Rogers
Wade Bowen
Pat Green (before he went "mainstream")......and many more

Classic Rock:
Boston
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Ted Nugent

Christian:
Jeremy Camp
Casting Crowns

Oh, and I almost forgot Josh Turner, one of the few modern country guys I like.

I like Blues and classic country. Here in St Louis we have many great local blues bands and artists to go see. I like to listen to Classical Music but I'm not well versed in the composers. This just scratches the surface .

Patsy Cline is/was a favorite, as are Crystal Gayle, Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, and Willie.

Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer band have always been a favorite. Ditto the Grateful Dead before Jerry flamed out.

Journey

My wife and I sat through a pouring rain at a Journey concert years ago and loved it. We also took our family to two Chicago concerts over the years.
