Serious Target Practice for deer hunting

Post by crs »

After hearing many hunting stories and playing the Cabela's hunting games, my grandson, Troupe(age 9), decided that he needed realistic target practice before deer season this fall. So he put red food coloring into a pitcher of water and filled up clear plastic bags and baloons with it to the size of a deer's heart. These he hung from his practice hockey goal and commenced breaking them with his compound bow and arrows.
After he tired of chasing the arrows, he broke out his BB gun and practiced until he ran out of target materials. This was all on his own and impressed me more than a little. Here he is with the BB gun.

I then decided it was time to get him a deer rifle! :D

Thankfully you're in Texas, and can get lots of guns a kid his age could legally use for deer.

Here in Indiana, it would pretty much have to be a .357 Mag or similar gun - Handi-Rifle, or Marlin or Puma is what is on the shelves. Not bad options, though...!

Yep, that is one smart boy. In more ways than one, a deer rifle in the works.
