You men besides Infernal Revenue Auditors and older teaching nuns?

I don't have any personal experienc with them, but pound for pound, I believe it might be the African Honey Badger. I've been given to understand that those cute cuddlly lookng little fellows are pure-dee killing machines that will kill for the sheer joy of killing.

Tasmanian Devils and Wolverines are pretty close as runners up for the title.

Nope you're all wrong... it's a crocagator. It has an alligator head on one end and a crocodile head on the other end and no place to go to the bathroom in the middle... that's what makes it so mean.

What made me think of it was there were some ants trying to get the peanut butter inside my two dogs Kongs(they are rubber toys) outside so I had to flush the "Critters" out with the hose and then wham my brain went click. Now I think it's stuck!

I like them pics where did you find them? the dog did a poor job of getting rid of the Squirrel though.
Wish I had pic's but I visited my sis in Calgary they got some big Grey and Black non Native Squirrel's in the city. One was chirping at my dog a golden ret so I sprayed the critter with the garden hose it jumped out of the tree right at the hound into the jaw's of death. At first it was a gentle I will hold you( bring you to my master thing) then it must have bit him as his head jerked back then I could hear bones breaking crunch.
Then it was good boy it's okay to chomp things that are not Grouse.

If its not man then it's gotta be ants, I've been bitten by bull-ants and for a one inch critter they are truly nasty.
Then again, my mother in law used to have a silky terrier and between them they were a pretty nasty pair.

African Honey Badger. I saw a documentary on these. There was one that attacked an
African bee hive for it's honey and the entire hive of bees on this critter seemed to have no
ill effect.

Kangaroo Ticks and any of the jumping, green, bull or meat Ants in this neck of the woods. Don't sit on the ground around here in a pair of shorts I tell you

Fire Ants have been introduced into Australia and the little black meat ants we have have been shown to keep them under control when they inhabit the same patch of earth

Mean, Cruel, Nasty, Vicious, Cunning and Conniving and that's the good points about sums up more than a few humans throughout history

...or that pesky HORSEFLY bothering me while cutting weeds this afternoon...?

No, wait, the Horsefly is pretty calm now. I tried to 'pet' him when he landed on my shoulder for a snack, but must have been too rough; he's playing with the ants and spiders now. 8)

BlaineG wrote:Pound for Pound? Ferral cat, maybe.
As a man there is no way I mess with feral cats. A true nasty cat can tear the hell outta ya. But for a dog or gun, cats are a pretty easy kill. From what I've seen not a whole lot of stay to em in a fight.

I have no knowledge of critters outside of NA so I'll just stick with the local critters. I'd rate members of the weasel family first rate in the tough badazz department. Mink and skunks die much easier than a badger but they are much smaller too. So pound for pound they might be tougher than a badger and it's hard to tell.

Coon can be tough and I've seen em soak up a lot of lead in places that should of put em out but they aren't very good fighters. They'll give a dog a good whippin but don't do much real damage in a fight. Lots of torn ears and bites around the lips.

I'm gonna say coyote is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, critters in NA. While they appear larger, in reality a 30-35 lbs coyote is on the large side. That's not much bigger than a good sized coon or badger but one on one most dogs are in for some serious damage and possible death from an encounter with a coyote. Note I said most not all. I've also seen coyotes recover from some horrendous gun wounds. We killed a coyote a couple years ago that was missing one front and one back leg on opposite sides. Was perfectly healthy and fat. Still got around pretty good too.

LK

Edited to add: Forgot about possums. Dumb as a post and about as dangerous as a newspaper but dang can those things be hard to kill for their size. LOL
