It is a little early, but I am going to be very busy for the next 4 days at work and probably won't get to be back here until Monday. So, I hope everyone here has a Happy 4th of July! To our English friends on here, I'll raise a toast on the 5th of November for you, but I probably won't burn any effigy.

No disrepect intended, but the holiday is Independence Day, not 4th of July. So happy Independence Day y'all!

Down here we also remember Gettysburg and Vicksburg on July 4.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of making that point.

"4th of July" celebrations rather than Independence Day Celebrations are a sore point for me. You did a good job of pointing out the difference, I'd probably come off sounding like a horse's patoot.

FWIW, there were no public celebrations on July 4th in the City of Vicksburg from 1863 until around 1970. Officially, July 4th was a day of prayer and remembrance in Vicksburg.
