You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........
Just get one more rifle EVER, and it can only be another 30WCF or a .44Mag rifle......what do you do? I sure like those 1894s....but, the 30WCF is awesome.....

Easy one. And you already have a .44? The .30-30 of course. If your first/existing .30 is a carbine, I'd get a pre-war long rifle, or the opposite if you've already got the rifle--I'd get a carbine. I love the .44 and have a few (92 clones), but another 94? It'd have to be the .30 cal. I feel so strongly about this, I'm repeating myself!

I also like the 94, but have never warmed to it in the 44. IMHO pistol rounds work better in the 92 action.

Bruce has a good idea, Dennis did this too, is get a single-shot so that you can load spire-point bullets. That Browning is cool.
And cut that one more rifle stuff out! That's just crazy talk!!!!

Re: You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........
If I follow you correctly, you already have a lever in 30WCF and one in 44 mag. How about a .22 Rimfire lever? Those three would be well rounded collection. If you must have one of the two that you mention, ammo availability would be the determining factor.BlaineG wrote:You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can........... Definitely a bolt action or single shot .30-30, I'm for a bolt gun. But this has to one of the craziest "what-if" questions I've seen

Re: You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........
hmmm, would love to hear the story behind this question. With just the info you have given, I'm thinking a bolt gun in 30-30, assuming you have a lever 30wcf suitable to your liking. Only since you said it had to be a 30 or a .44. I would agree that if you had those two ONLY, and could only get one more rifle EVER , it would be a .22LR lever. But that is not the question you asked. Bolt gun for pointy 30-30's

.30-30 no matter the configuration -- lever action, single shot, bolt action, whatever.

I guess I would wait to see which one breaks - neither is what I would want.

trade off the small bore as soon as possible for a real rifle
Re: You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........
one of them is a smallbore??!?Grizz wrote:trade off the small bore as soon as possible for a real rifle
If I already have a .44 and a .30WCF and I am able to buy one rifle that must be either .44 or .30WCF, then my money is staying in my pocket or buying silver.
Re: You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........

Well, whether it's crazy or not, it's the OP's right to pose the question, so here's my answer. Go with the 30-30, and rechamber it for 30-30AI. That way you end up with three different cartridges at you disposal.

Easy, get a .30-30 chambered sub MOA bolt gun with a top quality scope so that you have at least one tack driving longer range weapon in your kit.
But like the other guy said: can't get more guns? Crazy talk!

Blaine I Know you're not crazy...............maybe! Me, since the only .30WCF I have is a mid 70ish 94 Winchester, I'll be lookin for a pre 64 1894 Winchester in .30WCF!!!
Re: You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........
I'll take a tuned 16" M92 in .44 Magnum.
Then the 30WCF will go to one of our Levergun 'smiths for some work.

Just got back from fishing this weekend.....This was a "what if" kind of question and just stirring the pot between the 30WCF crowd and the .44mag crowd. I like both.

Re: You Have A 30WCF And A .44 Mag Rifle, And You Can...........
I don't see any reason to have a bolt gun in 30/30 unless it was a fine old classic like a model 54 winchester or something. A singleshot, well yeah, a Browning 78 or an original might be nice.
But in general, the 30/30 case belongs in a leveraction, as far as I am concerned. Since I already own a few pre-64 Winchesters, the 30/30 I would probably buy, at this time, would be an older Model 99 Savage, even though the .300 is the better round, the venerable 30/30 is a lot eaiser to pick up ammo for, nowdays, and I already own a lot of 30/30 ammo.
