OT -- Vodka ... who knew?

Post by alnitak »

1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka.

The stuff dissolves adhesive.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five minutes and wash clean.

The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka.

The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade
soak in the alcohol after shaving.

The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Spray vodka on wine stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle with vodka and spray bees or wasps to kill them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9 Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water into a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze for a slushy, refreshing ice pack for aches, pain or black eyes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10.. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11.. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12.. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13 Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14.. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15.. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth. Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And all these years, I just drank the stuff...what a waste!

These uses were obviously put out by vodka distillers.

I must admit these are much better uses for the stuff than drinking it.

I'll have to get a spray bottle of Grey Goose.

It also works great for college reunion receptions.

Or you could just drink the stuff, and you won't care about the mildew or the dirty glasses or the aching joints or the wasps or the jellyfish or the poison ivy or the premature baldness... hey, who cares, pass the bottle!

Regular alcohol will do all that and you don't pay as much, or state tax - except maybe for #15.

I have a bottle of real Russian Vodka or at least a half bottle now lol
I have to say it's really good and a fancy bottle too, no screw on top just a stopper. You can also buy Cuban Cigars for really cheap in St Petersburg. You can get a really good vodka here called Black Stallion from Russia I would never waste it clean stuff that would be alcahol abuse!
Best thing about Vodka for me at least no hangover lol

Tht my friend is a matter of opinion.

in fact it is an opinion I do not share.

IMO, if it isn't good Bourbon, irish Whisky or very good Scotch, it isn't good for drinking.

Last night I watched a re-run of Mythbusters, and the vodka did not kill the bees. I would just mix the vodka with grapefruit juice in a salt rimmed glass and drink it.

I have a Russian peer who lives in Moscow that I met for the first time face-to-face last year. He brought me some real Russian vodka, and I have to say it was the smoothest stuff I've ever had. I don't drink a lot anymore due to a car accident 25 years ago (and the damage it did to my liver), but I could get used to that stuff. Can't tell you what it was - all the writing on the bottle was in Cyrllic (sp?). :D
