Yipes! :o Heresy! Lever guns wearing camo?!?!?

C'mon, I know they must be out there, even if you had to paint them yourselves.

Time to come out of hiding (though, of course, hiding is what camo is for)

We promise we won't razz you! (and if you believe that    )

Ya know, I mistakenly took the sucker out for a walk, set it down because I needed both hands and I couldn't find it. I mistakenly didn't take any pictures of it either. :D  :D

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

None of my levers wear camo. My turkey shotguns are camo, as is my 22-250 coyote rig, but it's just tape.

I was gonna, but after I sanded the 70's-era Marlin 'varnish' off the old wood and saw how nice it was, I just oil-finished it. Maybe next time, or if RamLine or somebody affordable comes out with a camo synthetic stock for the 1894.

This is as close as I got...

They blend in with the surroundings so well, I couldn't get a picture of them --- and now I can't FIND 'em...

HaHa, about the lost-in-the-brush camo leverguns.

OK, just to kick us off, here's a factory model. It's a Browning BLR in .450 Marlin, SS

Image

It was on Gun Broker http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =154751679

I kinda like the brushed, tan-colored stainless!

Good evening to ya all,
here's my offering:

Image

It isn't really camo'd. It's just my 45-70 Cowboy "Critter-getter" with a Gun Chap installed.
(Oh yea, there's a little pig it shot somewhere in the picture too.)

Happy shootin to ya all,
OkR

kid_couteau - The Black and Stainless looks cool and would be 'camo' at night... 8)

oklahoma red - what brand stock is that, or did you camo it yourself?

I wish they made a camo one to fit the Rossi Pumas and/or the Marlin 1894's...

Here's a shot of my winter camo Marlin 336 in a snowbank:

Good morning to ya all,

AJMD429 wrote: oklahoma red - what brand stock is that, or did you camo it yourself?

The rifle is wrapped with a "Gun Chap" It slipps over the wood stock. My original intent with the weapon was to switch it back and forth, from camo'd to normal, to use it in long range "cowboy shooting" matches. Once the gun started wackin' everything in site, it never became "normal" again.
You can still find "Gun Chaps" online, here and there (ebay sometimes), the company is out of business I think. This one has been on a couple of my rifles in its life. Its about 25 years old.
Here is a better pic of what it looks like up-close:

This one zipps up the side of the stock.

Happy shootin to ya,

Camo? On leverguns? Have you gone over the cliff? :D

No such thing. Everyone knows lever guns must have blued steel and walnut furniture. Well...'cept them fancy stainless steel Marlins....

All kidding aside, I've always wondered on the reasoning behind camo guns. Normal unpainted guns worked just fine for centuries. Oh wait....sales and marketing....now I remember....

Why the heck would you do that to the stock? I have never seen anything like that on a levergun in all my days!

I bought this .444 for $163.00. I stripped it right after I took this picture. It was very pretty under this paint.

I have a friend who brings me all his guns to debubba. Please don't paint anymore guns the acetone is making my head pound.
