Temptation causes stress, and stress can kill you!
Buy the thing and claim it as a medical expense.

I probably bought more guns this year than anytime before. It seemed when one "found" me I would loose sleep until I made the purchase. Been sleeping like a baby lately......

They say trials are from God and temptations are from the devil. I view your predicament as a trial in which you must accept the fact you have to buy a high condition hard to find Marlin even though it is an act of faith you will be able to make ends meet after that.

That is a good deal. A straight stocked 336 is hard to find. 1886.

How I deal with this:

1. Stay away from anyplace where I can touch or feel a gun I don't already own.

2. Go shooting at the range, preferably with a kid.

3. Sometimes this works, for a while. ;)

If it's in 30-30 you MIGHT be able to resist. (Not likely...)

If it's in 35 Remington, you MUST have it. Now!!

I’m currently buying quality-fishing gear as a Methadone replacement
drug for the gun heroine addiction.
Yea it’s working out well, I just bought grips for a gun I don’t even
have yet.

If I found one like that, at that price, there would be no stopping me! Temptation is never going to kill me, I just give into it! Seriously, if I'm not in a position to buy a gun, I stay away from gun stores and want ads. It's bad enough sometimes seeing everybody's guns on this forum and most of them aren't for sale! I've said it before, this forum is not some kind of support group, we're all enablers!

Buy it now! Put it in your safe and forget about it until the guilt of buying it passes. Then surprise yourself with a new found friend that has been hiding in yer safe.

Can't speak for you and only semi-teasing about it:

I find if it's one I really wanted, that smug feeling of having overcome the temptation to buy a gun goes away a lot faster than the regret over having let something desirable slip through my fingers...

Can always resell or trade it later if it's such a bad idea to've bought. Kind of like catch and release!

Up until about 2 years ago, I had a streak of buying fever such as you describe. I got over it pretty good with abstinence and locking myself in a closet at times. But gun bug, which is like a mosquito bite in comparison, got took over by a bite that's like a crocodile bite when I started looking at 95 horsepower John Deeres on line and at the dealership, and talking to a salesman. One of those adds up to some real serious Marlin money in a hurry, I need help too Blaine

Je's right --- there are more serious addictions out there than guns and tractors are one of them (although its easier to justify a a tractor to the wife if you are in a rural setting than another gun to add to the pile sometimes)

I am going through the same process with a sweet Sharps repro (no, not a Shiloh, a Pedersoli) ------------ i may layaway it -- gives me 3 months to think about it
