Remington models 8 and 81

Post by getitdone1 »

Looking at Blue Book of Gun Values and see impressive specs about the Remington model 8 and it's successor model 81.

Model 8--About 60,000 made
Made from 1906-36

Model 81--56,091 made
Made from 1936-50

The basic gun, essentially, was made for 44 years. How many guns equal or better that record?

Although not much to look at and heavy I believe they had a reputation for excellent reliability.

I wonder if any semi-auto rifle ever made is more reliable?

The Model 39 Marlin; essentially the Model 1897 in everything but name.

The Marlin 1893/36/336 has been made since 1893. That's a pretty respectable 117 years.
