The information I have says the AE feature was introduced in 1983.

Thanks Joe as you could see from my subject line I am having a tough day.
I am now on the look for a 70s or early 80s 1894. Being a lefty, top eject is my friend.

Question....Did Winchester ever offer a Trapper chambered in .44 mag. before they went to "angle eject"?? I've not seen one, but would really like to have one if they did. My AE .44 Trapper is pre-safety, but I still think the receiver "looks funny" with that cut on the right side.

Hank,

I've heard they have, but I've never seen one either.
I"ve got a 94AE Trapper in .45 Colt and I totally agree about the gouge in the receiver. Ugly. The only thing worse is the rebounding hammer. But that went bye bye.

The first link only goes to the log in page. Can you get a good link to the gun or owner?

Andy,

After I posted those links I went and looked and got the same thing. Don't know how to make it open the pics.
