"UPDATE" I can't afford it, so it's no longer tempting.
It's over $2500, so I don't need to worry about if it's going to be mine or not
This is going to close well over $2k and worth every penny. This is one of those "Holy Grails", for us rimfire nuts.

That's sweet. I don't think you will find very many of them come up for auction in that condition, most will be traded between collectors.

I disagree.jdad wrote:This is going to close well over $2k
With the price already past $1500.00 and 14 days left in the auction, itt will probably approach or pass $3,000.00.
Thanks for the link, even us poor boys can dream, and drool.

Yes, I now agree it will surpass $3k very easily......recession or not.

Looks like a real nice rabbit gun,.... ,... and about the only steel crescent butt plate rifle I would like to shoot.

Did bid, now on the fence, and may jump in before the close depending on the price.pokey wrote:so are you in the hunt [bidding] ?jdad wrote:

I never wanted one of those until I saw the photos. Man! That is a work of art! I would really like one, but at that price, I'm just going to have to let it slide. Good luck in your bidding jdad.

Wow that really is a beautiful specimin. Not my cup of tea though as I shoot and use what I buy - and I wouldn't want to shoot that one - too nice!

Think what it will be worth in 10-20 years and all the enjoyment you will have shooting it all that time. BUY IT !!

Great rifle?? Yes. But borrowing money to buy a toy?? No way. You will never get ahead like that. Tom.

OOOOF!
I'd have to get it a nice tang peep and take it hunting. Honestly, this is why I bought the Remington, to hunt the .22 WRF/Rem Special. I couldn't find an 1890 in as good condition that I could afford.

Re: I can't afford it, but it's tempting to go into debt for.
Here is mine, and my story with it. I bought it at the gunshop in lancaster calif about 30 years ago. Where the screw is in the pistol grip, it went through the serial #. I told the salesman this is a custom, isnt it? He thought so. Now days I am not 100% certain, myself. The gun had extra fancy wood with a cheek piece. Fine winchester style checkering, and the rarer fancy forearm. It was in .22 WRF. Thinking the gun not original, I had it rechambered to .22 WMRF as it was cheaper and more available. What do you think?

I think an 1890 in 22 Magnum would be a fantastic upgrade. I love .22WMR in both handguns and rifles. I'm having a hard time finding my favorite Winchester 40 grain JHP's though.bogus bill wrote:...Thinking the gun not original, I had it rechambered to .22 WMRF as it was cheaper and more available.
