OT - Primers at Grafs / UPDATE

Post by Rimfire McNutjob »

At 10am, Grafs listed primers (in case lots) of all brands shapes and sizes. If you've been looking for a while, run over there and check it out. There are way too many for me to list but they seem to have posted primers from CCI, Federal, Remington, and Winchester in SP, LP, SR, LR and all kinds of derivations. This is case lots (5000) only though.

This is what my notification looked like at 10am Eastern ...

Grafs @ (800)531-2666 has
CCI LR(#200) for $21.998/k,
Fed LR(#210) for $26.798/k,
Rem LR(9-1/2) for $28.398/k,
Win LR(#8-1/2) for $26.398/k,
CCI LR-Mil(#34) for $30.398/k,
Fed SR(#205) for $26.798/k,
Rem SR(6-1/2) for $28.398/k,
Win SR(#6-1/2) for $26.398/k,
CCI SRM(#450) for $24.198/k,
CCI SR-Mil(#41) for $30.398/k,
Fed SR-Match(#205M) for $31.998/k,
Rem SR-Match(7-1/2) for $28.398/k,
CCI LP(#300) for $21.998/k,
Fed LP(#150) for $26.798/k,
Rem LP(2-1/2) for $28.398/k,
Win LP(#7) for $26.398/k,
CCI LPM(#350) for $24.198/k,
Fed SP(#100) for $26.798/k,
Rem SP(1-1/2) for $28.398/k,
Win SP(#1-1/2) for $26.398/k,
CCI SPM(#550) for $21.998/k,
Fed SPM(#200) for $26.798/k,
Rem SPM(5-1/2) for $28.398/k,
Fed SP-Match(#100M) for $31.998/k,
Fed SPM-Match(#200M) for $31.998/k.

UPDATE: Well, after I ordered some I called them when their site went down as meanc mentioned below. And according to them, their site was listing a bunch of stuff they didn't really have and that's the reason they pulled it offline. So I have cancelled my order and anyone who got an order in (OSOK for example) will probably be getting a call later to let them know that it was all a big mistake and that they can cancel or keep a backorder if they wish.

Sorry about the false alarm ... I should have known it was too good to be true. But man oh man, it was such a juicy list of stuff in stock I just couldn't pass up posting it after all of these months of little primer availability. The lady said their site should be back up later this afternoon once they fix the inventory/availability issue.

I get a message saying the site is down for routine maintenance.

Yeah, I hope that wasn't a breakdown in their inventory system that caused all of these to appear in-stock. I ordered about 15,000 and got an email saying they were "processing" my order. I'll be upset if they put me on backorder after showing all of that stock. I'll probably call them to follow-up. I would suggest calling to order just to make sure ... don't trust the site at this point.

I have yet to purchase any primers on-line. The HAZ-MAT shipping cost has to be outrageous.

It wasn't real inventory. It was a problem with their web site. They took the website down soon afterward to fix the problem and when it came back, all of the primer inventory was gone. Sorry for the confusion.

Well ain't that funny - I got an order confirmation for mine... sure looks like it'll ship. Time will tell....

And Mike D, you have to order a quantity to defray the hazmat charge - then, its well worth it. Just so happens that I wanted 5000 small rifle primers (have been unavailable forever it seems) and so, it was well worth it to me. The per 1000 cost is still below local retail pricing...

Thanks again rimfire! :D

Thanks for the update, Rimfire.

I sure don't like the hazmat charge, either - but if ya order 5K or 10K,
or mor, it helps to take the sting out of it.

I agree. When R.McNutjob gave me a lead several months ago. I bought enough primers that the $22 HM fee was really negliable.

Mike,

The markup by the few dealers who still sell primers in the Fresno area, with added local sales tax, is so outrageous that 2,000 primers cost as much or more than ordering 2,000 by mail and paying the $20-22 Hazmat fee.

And the gas and time needed for traveling to Bakersfield or Sacramento (or wherever a good FULL SERVICE wholesale gun store is located) is even more prohibitive, unless a large group of folks amass an order.

So if you purchase 5k or more online - especially at a site that does not charge shipping like Grafs - you save a chunk of change; at least in Central California.

Well, I just found an email from Grafs and Fedex notifying me that my case of primers is on the way!

Thanks again! :)

I bought 10K of Mag Tech SP primers a few weeks back from Grafs when they had them. Total cost to my door was $28.70 per thousand, not great but better than I can buy them locally, even if I could get them!
