OT - Gran Torino

Post by SJPrice »

I just watched the movie "Gran Torino" and I am not embarrassed to say I shed a tear at the end of the movie. Not over the movie, but over what has become of our once proud nation. It reminded me that true Americans come in all colors, creeds and lifestyles..... I just needed to share these feelings with someone. Now I am going out to drop my flag to half mast for tomorrow.

Oh, they're (I'd like to say "we're" if it didn't seem too presumptuous  ) still out there; they've just gotten quieter lately. It's hard to say if they are pouting, just don't feel appreciated, or are becoming a bit 'distant' as a preface to 'angry' - but there are lots of nice men and women the news media sure ignores, going quietly about our lives, doing the right thing, and not bothering anyone nor asking much of anyone other than to be honest in their dealings with us. The government and news media do neither of those things, so we pretty much ignore them, and they try to pretend we don't exist.

Someday maybe we'll have the collective gonads to petition, vote, and get assertive enough to actually undo some of the damage the past five decades of socialism has caused.

A superb movie. Not Eastwood's best acting, but the cast included some neophites who were awesome, and the tale he tells is in turns sad, angry, FUNNY AS HE77, and yes, redeeming.

When I saw the trailer in the theater for this, and it showed Clint packing a Garand....I said that one is gonna be good. It's on the Netflix list as we speak.

I just ordered the DVD, it was on sale at Amazon for about $11.

I saw it in March at the theatre, worth keeping.

Fantastic movie. Mrs. YK loved it too. Language a bit coarse to let the kids see it yet though...

I just wrote a vendor on E-Bay to chew their butt, my copy of Gran Torino has been paid for a week ago, no movie yet. Heard a lot of good about it, and hoped to see it this week-end. Maybe Monday.

Yea, good flick, (saw in on FIOS-as I NEVER pay to see a movie) and your right about good Americans coming from all kinds.

I don't know where you live but come on over here to the East, spend a little time in the big cities, then cruise on up to the mountain towns of Pa. to see what the Mexicans have done, and we will see if that don't change your tune. I know people in local government in these small towns and they all say the same thing---crime is up and human services are exhausted.

This country was built on immigration but the current flow are about 85% leeches.

Sorry, But I don't fall for this stuff being pushed into our consciences by the news and the "do gooders". Bruce, it probably went Media Mail, could take 2 weeks.
