Yes, and just in time too. We are leaving for a camping trip in the morning to a place up in the mountains where it is beutifull and quiet but there is absolutely nothing to do that the wimens folk want to do so I will need this magazine to entertain me.

Got mine today and just finished my first pass through. This one had some really good stuff in it ... I particularly liked that Savage 99's were well represented.
... I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.

Is this a brand new version, a revised version or the same old version re-printed?

Re: NEW !! 2009 leverguns magazine
The table of contents reads ...
Burris FastFire II by Dave Scovill
Iron Sights and Leverguns by Gil Sengel
.30 WFC by John Haviland
Winchester Levergun Sights by Mike Venturino
Lever Actions in Twenty-First Century Alaska by Phil Shoemaker
Browning BLR by Stan Trzoniec
Savage 99 by John Haviland
Marlin Leverguns by Brian Pearce
The Four Savage Cartridges by Mike Nesbitt
Loads for Levergun Cartridges by Brian Pearce
Mossberg Model 464 .30-30 by Clair Rees
Winchester Leverguns and Their Cartridges by Mike Venturino
I thought they were all good articles with the exception of the Mossberg one which I admit to not reading. I've learned all I need to know from OJ's experience with that gun. I often find the Clair Rees article more as sales pitches anyway.
And the Dave Scovill article mentions the Burris FastFire in the final 1/3 of the article, but begins by discussing open sights on lever guns. He does have a picture of a Turnbull mount for putting the Burris into a Winchester dovetail that I find intriguing.
I particularly liked the cartridge articles though.

Re: NEW !! 2009 leverguns magazine
It would be interesting to see an article on the Puma Legacy guns... (you know, for us 'kids' who weren't around back when the real Winnies were being made... )

Interesting.
I've been a RIFLE subscriber since the first issue was put out when Neal Knoxe put GUNFACTS to bed, for a better/different rag - and I had to order/pay for the last Legacy of Leverguns.
Curiously, I then accordingly ordered a new Legacy, (etc) last evening, online - and a copy was in my mailbox this afternoon !
No special handling stamps, like "overnight", FEDEX or whatever.
Hmmmmmmm........................ - NOW, I guess I'll have to see if I get a second copy in the mail in a week or so.

Re: NEW !! 2009 leverguns magazine
After skim-reading my copy, I have to say I have mixed feelings about the new Legacy of Leverguns.
Although some of the content is different/changed, so has the format - with LOTS of advertizing and small columns, ala Rifle Magazine.
I would have to say that, while I applaud the additional leverguns coverage included, that was missing from the older version, I am disturbed by the ads for boltguns/etc in a supposedly "leverguns-oriented" publication - although I understand the desire for the ad revenue.
Methinks it a further example of the downhill slide Rifle (and maybe Handloader ) appears to be in these last few years - especially since JB bailed out.
I hate to say it - but it looks like any other gun rag (w/o EBR's though), once the new cover's opened.

Sounds like a must have. How often do they publish this magazine? Annually? Gabby

Re: NEW !! 2009 leverguns magazine
Gabby , The last (only other I`m aware of) issue of " The Legacy Of Lever Guns " was printed in the winter of 2000.
See Hobies link on the first page.
The 2000 issue was better then this one for content IMHO but what the heck. This one is better reading than
the cover to cover tactical EBR`s and the latest version of the M1911 rags now on the book stand shelves. YAWN!!!!!!!!

Thanks Chuck, you're right about all the specialty magazines out there. I guess they're just giving the masses what they want, and then some. Gabby

Re: NEW !! 2009 leverguns magazine
I ordered one from the link. Fast shipping, I received it in less than a week. It is the Winter 2000 edition. I now need to look for the 2009 edition.
Re: NEW !! 2009 leverguns magazine
They did a pretty good job on this one but I kinda feel like the previous version was better. Still worth having and it was like Christmas morning when I found it waiting for me in the mailbox the other day. Total suprise.
