O.T.-For those who are sick of modern entertainment media

Post by slimster »

After getting frustrated with cable t.v. and my local video rental merchants trying to find classic entertainment, (I've been on an old gangster and detective kick here lately), I decided to see what was available on the internet, and am actually having some success! I found a really neat site where you can find all sorts of old movies to stream or download. There's a little of everything here for old movie lovers, from old westerns to horror to comedy and drama. For instance there is "West of the Divide" with a young John Wayne in it as well as the first Dick Tracy serial from the 1930's and plenty more. It's surprising what's out there in public domain. Here's the link-http://www.bored.com/watchfilms/movies/ and I will try to update with anything else that I find that is worthy. PLEASE feel free to post anything that you are aware of! Thanks and enjoy! Edit: I tried to post this as a hot link, but as usual for a dummy, I was unsuccessful...If someone could help me out I'd be gratefull. Thanks.

Stroll on down to the nearest Pilot, Love's, TA, Flying J truckstop and you'll likely find a bin of DVD's, many of obscure and old movies, most for about $10.

Aside from spending time here I tend to simply kick back with a book to wile away my time. I rarely waste time with watching the ignorant stuff that passes for television these days.

Probably a lot of duplication with other sites but this one has a pretty good selection.

Thanks for the post! I'm going to like this. Just figured out how to use an HDMI cable an play an episode of "24" that I had missed, using my wife's laptop, on the TV in our family room. This site will offer us a lot of fun movies to watch doing the same thing! :D

There you go slimster.
Good tip. I see that, toward the bottom of the scrolled screen, that excellent old forgotten Sinatra film "Suddenly" is featured. For its day, an outstanding suspense thriller about a President assassination attempt (and still one of the better ones, in my opinion).

Kim Charney, who portrays the little boy hero, was a frequent child actor and was one of my grammar school pals. Now, he's a vascular surgeon in Southern California.

I see that there's at least a few others here that appreciate the old classics. I have found a few more good ones that I am going to try to hot link...(1)http://www.nostalgiamerchant.biz/Classi ... _Video.htm (This one's pretty extensive) (2)http://retrovision.tv/movies/film-noir/ (3)http://www.freemooviesonline.com/watch- ... ovies.html ...All of these will let you stream the shows right to your computer. And thanks for the link contributions so far. Edit: AARGH!. I see that I was once again unsuccessful on the hot links. I can seem to transport a hot link as a hot link, but when I find the site myself I can't make an addy. into a link myself. (Anyway, there's always copy and paste). Can anybody set me on the right course for future endeavors?

Just tonight I did a search so I could show our 6 yr. old the Original Star Trek, and found that CBS shows classic episodes on their own website...even "The Trouble With Tribbles!"
