photos of "new" 1894 Marlin

Post by Streetstar »

I have had this for a couple weeks now but have not gotten around to the photobucket mess yet

1894 Marlin .44 Mag

I earlier nicknamed it the "Jam-o-matic" after my first range session ended badly. I later found out through this forum that Blazer alum. cased ammo was not acceptable in this design , so i will get out with some brass cased ammo as soon as i can load up a batch.

but the group was looking good before the big FTF (failure to feed)

The metal is excellent , blueing is pretty good, but the stock looks like it has ridden in a gun rack, so its my new knockaround rifle --- the dings in the wood add a little bit of character

I have posted a few new photos of firearms in the past few weeks and precious few of them have been lever actions, so hopefully this one gets me back on track :D

Doug,

That's a nice carbine. Let us know how it works next time at the range.

a 357 would have been my first choice too, as i have a couple of revolvers in that, but none in .44 ---- but i also couldnt find one in anything but a newer safety model.

Unusual configuration. Rifle forearm and buttstock, but carbine band on the front of the barrel. Sort of a half breed.

That's a great deer gun. Watch the front sight ramp, they tend to shoot loose, and it's easy to strip the shallow threads. Don't ask. Actually all the action screws tend to loosen themselves. Makes for easy disassembly.

Congrats on a nice handy carbine! When you switch to brass casings the feed issues will be gone.

There's an identical used 1894 44 Mag carbine at a local shop that I've so far been resisting . . .

. . . resistance is futile.

I have one just like it. Bought at a pawn shop several years ago, $200.00 OTD. Looked like it had been carried behind the seat of a truck, it had a few problems at first but after I installed a new carrier it functions well and is accurate. Mounted a Williams receiver sight on mine. I like it. Congrats on your new rifle.

Not really unusual Vall.
All the standard 1894s are like that. Not sure why they dont use a hanger up front, but theres alot I dont know. :D

Looks a lot like the one I own. You'll love it with brass - I'm looking forward to your range report with no FTF's! :D

Congrats! Make sure your loading gate screw is tight if you haven't checked it already. A loose one causes havoc.
