Interesting collection of guns. Thought a few of you might enjoy them. Don't forget to look at the second page too. http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/02 ... -guns.html

Interesting stuff.

I just did the paperwork on a REAL gun...

Made before 1941 this is a 22 cal H&R Young American.
Liked it for the 1.9 inch barrel length, small size, 22 cal.

I'll take one of each - as long as someone else pays for them! :D

About 15 years ago, I saw a pen gun at a gun show. It fired .22 LR cartridges, single-shot, of course. It wasn't a fat thing like the pen gun shown, it really looked like it could be a pen. It was around $200.00 but I couldn't justify spending it. How foolish of me!

I had one of those years ago. A slightly shorter barrel and double action only. A friend had taken it in trade years before and it sat in his store drawer for years. I took it home and cleaned it up. The bore was fouled terribly but I used a bunch of hoppes and a number of patches and about wore out a bore brush on it - and got it cleaned up pretty good. It would chamber 22 Longs but I never trusted it enough to fire one off in it. It shot 22 Shorts fine. 22 Longrifle was too long for the cylinder. Anyway, I took it back to the store and showed it to him. He told me to keep it. :) I kind of wish I'd kept it but it went down the pike in a trade years later. I keep my eyes open for another one, but they're not that common in the pawnshops and stores I've been in.

Now that's interesting! And most of all to me is the pic below:

Why? Because last week a fellow was talking to me of some problems his father had with rustlers in years past. They were threatening him and he told them, "I'm going home to oil up my "escopeta calibre gras" (gras caliber/gauge shotgun) - and I'd NO idea what he was talking about. Anyway, the story goes that he died waiting for them - decades later. They wanted no part of a man who was willing to face them. So now I know where the "gras" part of the story comes in. A french made weapon of some sort is my best guess. Kind of like in Brazil where any 22 rifle was a "flobert". The pic above is reversed I believe. Or did the french build a left handed bolt gun?
