Marlin 336 30/30 questions

Post by Grizzzly »

I can get a Marlin 336 30/30 pretty cheap from a friend. Can I get a straight stock & lever to fit this gun ? It can be wood or synthetic. If so , where ? Thanks for the help. John

There weren't very many straight stocked 336s. The Texan, early 444s, some RCs? I think they all had square levers. But I'll get showed up wrong here pretty soon, I'm a Winny guy. The only Marlin lever I ever had is a 39. I prolly traded in and out of one or two, but never owned one.
Kind regards,
Tycer

There are a number of 336 straight grip guns and the parts are out there. You need the trigger plate, lever loop (although you can modify both parts) and stock (which IS easily available). If you advertise on these and other forums you can sometimes find someone with a straight grip gun who will trade parts with you. Not all the lever loops are rectangular. I have two 336Ts one has the rectangular form, the other the oval form. In use it just doesn't matter.

To purchase the parts you can try Marlin ( :!: ), Numrich Gun Parts Corp, and Wisners.

FYI - Marlin will not sell users a trigger plate, period.

But you can have the guns converted, or could...
