I just want to brag on my gun. I bought it at a pawn shop for $179 one time and it has been a great gun. I was standing there while another guy was looking at it and I was sending him an ESP message to hand it back to the clerk. He did. The rest is history I have lost count of how many deer I have killed with this gun. Here is today 3 shots kneeling at 100 yards. How can you beat this gun? I was aiming at the red dot. I am going deer hunting one more time this weekend and then I guess I will be done for the year. I think I can cram one more in my freezer. I would not take a million dollars for this gun.

Working on a .35 Rem. for a Christmas present for our youngest this year.
He loves my 1895M scount rifle but the .450 is too much for him.
Re-finished the stocks and have the XS scount mounted. All I need is the Scope.
Been looking for something cheaper than the Leupolds that I have on my rifles.

Funny, that was the first thing I noticed also. Even if he does not carry it muzzle down, I would not flip it. With that group, the only thing I would do is nothing different.

Actually that is an old pic. I used to carry it muzzle down all the time. It sure carries nice that way. I have become such a safety nerd now that I got nervous about having a round in the chamber pointed at my calf muscle so I switched it around.
I Tru Oiled the stocks last summer. I hunted in the rain one day last year and my stocks turned white. The Mar Shield was almost all gone off the wood. It looks better now and the stocks will bead water.
I am not claiming I can shoot three shots like that every time, but the gun will do it if you shoot well. I shot a lot over the summer and have been dry firing a little every day. I am beginning to fear I may wear my gun out before my hunting days are over
I only asked about the sling and carry position because I wondered if it would be a good option for my son. With him being quite a bit shorter than me, I always remind him that if he's not careful he'll point the muzzle at my chin while moving around. Most of the time he will walk behind me or to my right to prevent this (he's righthanded and thus carries on the right shoulder. With his height, he might be more prone to slipping and sticking the muzzle in the dirt if carried the opposite way and I hadn't thought of the muzzle pointing at the leg issue. I think we'll stick to muzzle up and stay vigilant with the muzzle safety.
Yup, I have a million dollar Single Six, a 336 in 30wcf and 45-70 1895GS.....Also, A super 1895CB that is not for sale because it's just starting to realize it's potential...
