9422 Prices

Did 9422 receivers magically transform to gold when I wasn't looking over the last couple of years? I'm thinking I should be paying about $500 for a 98% Legacy style gun, maybe $650 NIB but holy cow. Most of these are at least $900+. I mean the ones with walnut ... not the WinCam, WinTuff, WinWhatever stuff.

At these prices, I may hold out for a decent 1897 to fix up. Or even a nice Winchester 62.

I have a NIB Legacy 22LR with the hand cut checkered walnut stock FS and fairly priced on the Forum Classifieds. I agree with you, most are considerably more expensive than I have listed mine for. Everyone has their favorite, and the .22LR Legacy is my "reach for" .22 from among 6 lever action .22s on the gun rack.

I see you just bought a bunch of 348 stuff ... like you needed more of that.

Yes, that is a proper price on a NIB Legacy I'd say. What kind of premium would one expect to add for the 22WMR version?

I don't know what a NIB 9422 Legacy .22 mag would bring today. I haven't seen one FS in quite a while. A lot more, I'd guess. Neither my personal Legacy .22LR nor .22 mag is FS. The NIB one I'm offering is a duplicate...and my last one.

The 9422 is a sore spot with me. I bought the 1st .22wmrf in it to hit our town when they came out. I left it for my dad. He loved that gun. Dad died in 2003 and I went home and reclaimed it and others. My safe was already full so it and another 7 or so guns were left loose. A few days later I got hit and lost the full batch of family guns!

Sure sorry about the theft of those family guns. The value to you was WAY more than $$$ they were worth. Irreplaceable.

Stories like Bill's make me think $600.00 or so in the form of a second safe from Sams Club is cheap insurance against such a smash and grab loss. I'm not criticizing anyone, just reflecting that maybe it's time for me to gather up some of the guns from closets and other hiding places and secure them properly. I'm sorry you lost those family guns, Bogus Bill.

I have a Sam's Club gun safe and like it a lot. I know there are better safes out there, but the Sam's Winchester safe is affordable at around $600. You said it right AkRay...cheap insurance. I did 2 things to the safe I will pass on: First, I doubled the thickness of the plywood flooring the safe sits on. (Don't forget to screw the two thicknesses together!) Then I drilled out the holes in the bottom of the safe to 5/8 and used larger (read that as large thread) 5/8 lag bolts to secure the safe to the floor. (I felt the short 3/8 lag bolts that came with the safe too easily could be ripped out, especially from single thickness sub-flooring.) Second, I removed all the rifle rack inserts from inside the safe. I put every rifle in a Bore-Stores fleece gun sack for protection and pack the rifles tight. Doing this you can increase the capacity of the safe by 50% and still have room for a Golden Rod.

I should get a second safe but I just don't have room for one. Instead, I selling rifles. Yikes!!! (See classifieds!)

McNutjob, I agree with you. I'd like to pickup a nice Win. 9422, but I have a hard time swallowing the price. Most of the time I could buy a pre 64 94 for less money than a rimfire.

Here in Canada I picked up a never fired 94/22 Cherokee Comm.Action is smooth as silk, though accuracy wise my
Uberti 73 in 22lr has the edge over the 94

WoW that Uberti 73 looks FINE! If I couldn't find decent mod 39-A,or 9422,or U 73,I'd just stick with a Nylon 66.

I just found this one for sale on a local board. He's even in my town, but do you think he's going to be getting a call from me, inquiring about the sale of his rifle? Not a chance. On a nicer note, a friend of mine found a 9422M on a bulletin board in a grocery store earlier this fall for $150.00. The deals are still out there.
