Re: .243
No, sorry, bolt gun
Re: .243
There's pretty much been a 243 around here in one form or another for the last 35 years !
At the moment I have a 1962 vintage Winchester Model 70 Featherweight and my dads got the Ruger #1B I gave him for christmas a couple years ago .
Killed my first deer with a Remington 700BDL in 243 when I was eleven . I had saved all summer to buy that rifle and a Bushnell 2.5-8x scope . The rifle cost me $174 and the scope was $40 .

Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

Now, thet's a nostalgia trip, right there, 6pt !
The first deer gun, which I purchased after I got out of the service in 1966, was a $95 Rem 700 ADL Carbine in .243 (used) - which I immediately peeped, o'course.

Well, don't keep us waiting. Would love to read about the story of your Husky .243!

Re: .243
It's pretty long
Re: .243
Well let's here it.
The 243 is one of my favorite rounds. Currently have a Ruger 77 MKII. After slicking up the trigger it has no problems shooting under moa with favorite handloads.

Re: .243
It's the latter part of the sixties, my brother is 3 years older than me. One of his friends ( and mine ) goes in the Air Force, my brother goes in the army. Rueben the friend gets sent to Thailand, the war is going on, my brother gets sent to Viet Nam. Rueben comes by and says keep my .243 for me, you guys can shoot it while I'm gone. Some time prior to this , my brother shoots Frank's mirror on his Jeep ( another friend ) and in his reaction pulls away from exploding mirror, puts a ding in the forearm of the .243. Frank comes by and says I want to borrow Ruebens .243, sure he said it was ok before he left.
Rueben comes back from Thailand, where's my rifle? Frank took it, you said it was cool. Lets go see Frank, he says I shot a hawk with it and Texas fish & game confiscated it. My brother and I pony up the cost of the rifle. Fast forward 20 years, and I am at a gun auction at shooters world in Phoenix, Az. Auctioneer holds up a Husqvarna .243 and says what am I offered? I walk up to him and say may I see it? Sure, turn it over ... There is the ding my brother put in the forend when he shot Frank's mirror. Bought it , took it to him in Washington state, he just sent it back to me; citing trouble with my niece's boyfriend.

It's filthy!
He did not clean it.
At least it did not rust.

Sounds like a cool Rifle. Great story my friend. I have a Belgium .243 BLR 1971 Vintage...haven't used it that much due to having so many other options. But I hope to start hunting Coyote with it again...Great Caliber I've had the rifle since new. I have a 2-7 Vari-X-II Leupold on it.
Got any Pics?

Re: .243
No, the best I can figure, he is afraid the .243 will load itself and shoot someone.......... Odd, the .243 did not decide to clean itself after the last time he shot!
Re: .243
About time you gave Reuben his gun back.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
