Had a chance to stop and watch the National Matches for a few minuets this morning.
Only had a few minutes to watch a 200 yd match and run through Vender's Row. All I bought was a case of Large Pistol primers, snap a few pictures and hit the road.
Wished I'd had time to compete this year. Haven't done it since I was in college. Lots of fun and they had a beautiful day for it.

It is a lot of fun. I've been wanting to shoot another one. I'll put up a reminder next summer. Seems like it always sneaks up on me.
Last time I shot at Camp Perry I was shooting my M1. Did better at 600 yds than I did at 200! Go figure!
Makes me feel a little guilty. It's only 30-40 minutes from where I live!
They lso have DCM shoots up there. They're a little less formal. But still fun.
The weather's usually the killer. Either it's 90+ and 99% humidity or the range has an inch of water on it This summer has been pretty dry and the guys have had perfect weather.

I bought 5000 for $120.00. Pricese are up there too, but the more you buy the better the deals. None of the local gun shops carry reloading supplies anymore so I buy them when I see a decent price if I need them or not. Seems like I've been going through a ton of large pistol primers lately. Should have bought some large rifle too.

Fond memories come rushing back. In mid-80s, I was the Officer-in-Charge of the East Coast team for the Navy. I ran the match at Damneck Virginia and shot in the regional and nationals at Camp Perry. Had Carlos Hathcock out for opening comments and to be person of honor at the Damneck Shoots. Also had a medal of honor winner speak. Great times, Great people, Great memories. Nothing like putting your eyes into your sights at 1000 yards and letting one fly, seeing the marker show up where you wanted the bullet to hit. Thanks for mentioning this post.

From 1957 to 1960 I made the matches each year at Camp Perry. In addition to shooting we got to rub shoulders with the likes of Gen. Hatcher, Al Bar and Elmer Keith. Lots of great memories.
