Ruger single six Question (pic)

Post by Rogmatt »

Is this cylinder for a NM or OM. Box does not say. I would expect the box to say NM if it is for a NM, unless it is the wrong box.
I just won on GB hoping it is OM as my single Six is an OM. if indeed for a NM, am I screwed? Is there any posibillity of it fitting my OM?

Looks to be for a new model, every old model I've seen is fluted, both lr and magnum.

OM, are you refering to a 3 screw SS. If so I think you are correct. However I believe My 3-S 22 mag cyl. had a fluted cylinder. The New Model's 22LR cylinder is fluted, the 22 Mag. non-fluted. I had both recently, and kept the NM RSS in Stainless. When I had the OM I had just the opposite problem, it came W/O the 22LR cylinder.

If is wrong you should have no trouble selling it.

Rogmatt,

The Old Models and the early New Model Super Single-Sixes used fluted cylinders. Somewhere in the production they changed to a non fluted magnum cylinder.
The cylinder in your gunbroker auction is a New Model cylinder.
However all is not lost. Ruger has never changed the frame or cylinder sizes on the Single Six series.
So there is a fairly decent chance that cylinder will fit and function in your gun. If it don't there's also a good chance it can be fitted to your gun.
