Could anyone tell me when Marlin stopped producing the SC version of the 336? Thanks

Re: Marlin 336 SC
Personally I see the 336SC as a kind of predecessor of the Guide Gun's !
Over the last 6 or 7 years I have been able to acquire 5 of the Marlin SC's . A 219 , a pair of 30-30's a 32 Special and a 35 REM !
My newest SC is one of the 30-30's that was made in 1962 , the 219 was made in 1959 and the other three were either made in 1950 or 1952 !

Re: Marlin 336 SC
Legit. question. I do not know but you will probably receive a legit. response some time soon. Hang in there. I had a beauty SC .32 Spec. made in 59 some time back but it "got away". 1886.JDL wrote:Could anyone tell me when Marlin stopped producing the SC version of the 336? Thanks

Thank you much O.S.O.K. Mine was one of the last produced then, a W prefix. Same guy I bought it from had a .219 also but, it was too heavy to be of any use to me. All my gunbearers quit for better paying jobs.

If the 219 he had was at a decent price you should have purchased it as they are a bit rare !
Reguler SC's can be had anywhere from $250-400 , while the 219 is most likely gonna start at $600 and go up from there depending on condition and circumstances .

Re: Marlin 336 SC
Here are some SC's !
At top is my first SC a 35 REM that was made in 1952 , this one came from northeast PA .
Next down is a circa 1950 SC in 32 Special I got from a fellow in Idaho .
Next down is a circa 1953 SC in 30-30 that came from Wisconsin !
And next down is a Model 36SC in 30-30 that came from southwest Virginia .
And at bottom is my old model 1936A in 32 Special that came from PA .
The rifle at the bottom in this picture is my circa 1959 336SC in 219 Zipper !
Above it are a pair of 375's and a 356 !
This is my 336SC in 30-30 that was made in 62 !
This old Redfield peep was on the 1962 rifle and was the main reason I purchased the gun !
Lets see in the 35 REM I normally shoot the RCBS 35-200GC , but am starting to use the Ranch Dog 359-190GC in it as well !
In the 32 Special I shoot the RCBS 32-170GC and the Lyman 321297 . But Ranch Dog will soon be bringing out a mould for 32's called the 323-170GC .
In the 30-30 I have used a bunch of bullets . I like the Saeco 150 grainer , the RCBS 30-150GC , RCBS 30-180GC , the Lyman 311041 in solid nose and HP versions . Also have a copy of the Lyman 311440 that works pretty decent ! And a group buy mould that 357MAX made for a 312-150GC bullet !
But my all time favourite now for the 30-30 has to be the Ranch Dog 311-165GC !
In that 219 Zipper I have been using the Hornady 60 grain bullet to work up loads and then plan to use the Nosler 60 grain Partition for other things later

Re: Marlin 336 SC
Yep, shouda bought the .219 but, didn't know they brought so much money. All's well though because my best friend bought it and AFAIK has only had it at the range one time. It shot reasonably well though, not outstanding.
I enjoyed your pics, you have some outstanding Marlins!
