Re: "It Doesn't Need To Be Rewritten..."
Some people do not understand it. It should be taught to our young folk, and explained so that they understand why it is the most important document other than the Bible which we have.

If a kid can't explain the rationale behind each of the first ten amendments, and can't explain why capitalism is superior to socialism, they should NOT be given a high school diploma, and honestly, I don't think they should be allowed to vote. Unfortunately 'not allowed to vote' laws can be abused, so that itself would be a dangerous thing.
However, it used to be only one vote per household - no household (no property ownership), no vote. With only adult males allowed to vote, that essentially made the family the soverign electoral unit, with one vote per household on average.
Although I do like women and their opinions and their input in most things is very valuable, and I think there are clearly areas where women's "intuition" or perspective makes them superior to men, they vote differently (emotion vs logic, safety and equity versus stability and fairness) and run businesses differently. They make better child-rearers (though men are definitely needed too), and better grade-school teachers, but as the kid gets to high school and college, males tend to be better teachers IN GENERAL. Of course our young generations cannot grasp the concept of overlapping bell-curves, so generalizations (that have real impact) just 'offend' them and never are used to make sensible decisions. If you say "in general, men are taller than women", the academic/moronic youth these days will "refute" that by saying "but I know a woman who is 6 ft 8 inches, and a guy who is only 5 ft 8 inches......." They think an exceptional anecdote somehow "refutes" scientific fact.
But yes, the Constitution must be understood. It isn't perfect (and I'd expect a good student to be able to articulate the potential flaws), but it is the best we've seen in recorded history.
I remember an old "farmhouse wife" type teacher (unsure if they needed 'credentials' back in the 60's) who practically worshipped George Washington, and on his birthday week our 6th grade class put cutout glasses and a party hat on his portrait she had framed in class. (just on the glass - not hurting anything). She got SO angry, and of course we thought that made it even funnier. Now I think she must have seen what was coming. The students these days probably wouldn't even recognize his name, and if they did, they'd just say he was an evil white man who had slaves he mistreated, probably fathered illegitimate children with (odd that the young people of today pick THAT as a thing to criticize), and was a < gasp > 'capitalist'.
Fascinating that the architects of our government were actually NOT 'old white guys', but the majority were 'college-age' white guys. Oh yeah - I forgot that just being 'white' is somehow bad nowdays.
Pray for our young people - AND EDUCATE ALL THE ONES YOU CAN.
