Armadillo terminated in Florida

Post by t.r. »

These garden pests are extremely destructive with their digging. But this one has now been terminated with my Grandad's 100 year old scatter gun. TR

A few years ago, one must have stopped at my place for a quick snack while travelling. It dug up part of my wife's flowers, and never stuck around. It left a mess. I think she would have been willing to spend an hour or two beating it to death with a shovel if she could have caught it.

Armadillos, specifically the nine-banded armadillo, are natural carriers of leprosy (Hansen’s disease) and can transmit it to humans, though the risk is low.
You should see what a 22-250 at 100 yards will do to them!

Its' funny how those things come and go. I have had some real infestations on the farm and even my yard a couple of times or so in the last 7-8 years. We kill every one we see, and some years I might kill 30 or more, and then go a year or two and hardly see any. Then they will come back in force and I have to kill them out again.
