The liberal's pet-cause of 'universal background checks', which never reduces the 'violent crime' they pretent to want to reduce, DOES set the stage for registration then incremental consfiscation, initially focusing on 'military style weapons' or firearms 'not needed for sporting use'.

Notice how the gun-grabbers focus specifically NOT on the type of guns criminals use for 'gun violence' (handguns), but rather focus on what looks scary, and what would be the only firearms really capable of resisting tyranny ('assault weoapons'). That alone should reveal their intentions are NOT benign - that they are more interesting in creating a docile and impotent citizenry than they are in 'reducing gun violence'.

Anyway, the citizens of Iran could have been effectively resisting the violent tyrants in control of their nation all the while, if they had not allowed the government to enact 'common sense gun control'. FAR better to have tons of violent criminals roaming around with 'assault weapons', because you can at least shoot THEM, and hopefully the government will help you out. But when the GOVERNMENT is the only letally-armed group, they aren't always all that motivated or effective in stopping the criminals, and they tend to become criminals/tyrants themselves.

From watching News from places other than the US and no longer Great Britain, I get the opinion the Persians want the Muslim invaders out. Being disarmed has the Persians at a disadvantage.
